i have been using my sons ipad while he is home for the holidays just to see if I want to trade up to the 10.5 from my 9.7 pro. Anyway I notice a quarter size bright spot in the display that is annoying. Is this normal and do you think Apple will replace it? We have AppleCare.

Thanks

Agree, not normal. No screen is going to be perfect but no "good" screen should have noticeable permanent bright spots either. I'd make an appt. with a Genius. If it as bad as you say they'll exchange it for you.

Those bright marks often happen to LCD panels if they’ve been subjected to some sort of pressure. It’s not burn–in.

Right but pressure marks disappear after a few minutes, they shouldn't be permanent. Agree it's not burn it, but it does sound like a bad panel.

Pressure marks can be permanent if the panel has been damaged, which is probably the case here.

Possibly a symptom of lamination? I never liked my 10.5 for that reason. Pressure deformed the screen and caused light leaks near the home button border when pressing there. I prefer the space that separates the glass in my 9.7.

Live about 2 mike from an Apple store. Took it by there this morning and they replaced it right away. Said they hadn’t seen it often but it definitely wasn’t normal.

Well dang. I thought I had a slightly brighter circle spot on the lower part due to my screen being a little finger printed and not getting it cleaned enough. Now I just did a good cleaning and it’s still there...

Now I’ll probably have to give Apple a call as it’s actually super annoying when scrolling on white web pages. Don’t have an Apple Store which makes it 100x harder. Tempted to get Apple Care as well in case it happens again later on.
