Where are you getting the ML installer from? An 'InstallESD.dmg' file exists in the usual location in the GM build.

OSX 10.8 is larger then single layer DVD capacity by about 200-300MB. Is there a way to trim the DMG image and make it fit ? Removing languages etc. ? How to edit it to keep the DMG bootable ?

So burn it using dual layer DVD. Where is the problem exactly?

He added significantly more than you did. He actually provided a solution (use a DL DVD,) while your post was 100% useless in regards to the thread.

No, he did not. Neither did you. I specifically asked for trimming the DMG image to fit single layer DVD. if i wanted to burn to DL-DVD, i would not have asked!

Next time the both of you rather trying to be smart-ass about DL-DVD, rather focus on topic or say nothing!

Yea, just use a DL DVD. They are cheap

Not hard and all current burers can burn DL

It will be much less hassle to buy a DL DVD than to trim the install image.. (an image that has yet to be released might I add...)

Why hack it, just burn it to a dual layer DVD or better yet make it an installable USB 8GB Flash drive.

I would just wait until the usb drive is released from apple or you could get it faster when it is released to the app store sometime this month . You should be able to make a dvd from there like lion or your own usb drive , there really is not much you get from mountain lion that is worth upgrading right away it is pretty much the same as lion with a couple of ios apps . I would much rather have a install dvd from apple themselves but I don't think that will happen . I like a apple branded install dvd much more than a usb drive and usb drive , but apple thinks everyone likes not using optical media now for some reason because they think it is old technology but who knows .

You can fresh install without a DVD/USB...just use disk utility from the OS X installer.

If that is true , apple is moving too fast . It does not matter really though because you can just burn your own dvd or make a usb drive . Apple should offer it as a option at least because it really does not do anything but give them more customers . Some people want to actually own a copy and apple is making a mistake .

The people that actually want to own something can shell out $70 to Apple for the preloaded thumb drive. Providing it on a DVD isn't going to give them more customers. If it was working out that well, they'd still be doing it.

Please read my reply in full because , the guy I quoted said it will only be available on the app store and that apple will not offer a usb drive.
I agree that putting it on a usb drive is fine and in many cases better than a dvd disk . That said if they do not even offer a option for a usb drive copy I think they are making a mistake and moving too fast .
