Does anyone know if it is possible to burn dual layer recordable discs with the Apple Superdrive? Do they even make recordable dual layer discs? It is nice to be able to make dvd backups but the 4.7gb limit is really restricting. It seems that most dvd's out today are arround 6 or 7gb. Also does anyone know how to just burn the motion menu and the movie and get rid of all the other crap?

I'm no expert, but I don't think dual layer media is available, nor is a drive capable of writing to it. For the time being single layer 4.7Gb is the limit. However you can buy (I think) single layer dual sided discs which your SuperDrive (or any other writer) can write to.

It is not possible. They don't make dual layer discs or dual layer recorders for consumers.

In fact, from my understanding - dual layer discs are physically created from some process from two single layers. So, it's no easy task.
