I received this email from my Dad's friend earlier today and I'm stumped. I dont actually think what this guy wants to do is possible, but maybe someone will have an easy solution:

Gidday Glenn,

I have a question re: Burning CD's from i-tunes via connected i-pod.

I believe a 'burn CD' symbol is supposed to appear once a playlist has
been selected in the top right hand corner of the i-tunes application.
This is not happening when we've selected the playlist from the i-pod
connection.
We've deleted all the music from the i-tunes library and we were
hoping to burn CD's directly from the i-pod. All the music show's up
on i-tunes but we still have NO 'Burn CD' icon showing up on the
i-tunes.

Could you advise on any way for us to get this problem sorted? We've
spent a lot of time and effort to transfer all our music to the i-pod
and just discovered we're unable to burn playlist selections back from
the i-pod.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

What if the iPod is set to Manually Manage Songs? I haven't tried it myself, but you should be able to burn from that. If not, you could drag the tracks or playlists back into iTunes and burn directly. :)

Senuti is good for backing up iPod libraries onto iTunes. :)
