Hello,

I noticed this morning, after removing my Apple Pencil Pro from the side of my M4 iPad Pro, that there appear to be what look like scorch marks on the pencil and the side of the iPad. (You’ll have to select the first photo to see the marks, they don’t pear in the preview) There’s also a bit of exposed metal under one of the scorch marks (it looks like a darker dot in the second photo, but it shines silver in person).

I’ve never seen anything like this with my previous Apple Pencils or iPads. Has anyone seen this before??

Oh that’s funny, when I put in the topic, MacRumors had a thing showing other posts it thought were similar and nothing appeared so I thought there was nothing out there. Won’t trust that in the future lol. Thanks!

edit: I will say, mine looks much worse, at least in person, and the marks don’t rub off like in the post you shared. And the exposed metal part….thats bonkers. I’ll reach out to Apple. At any rate, I appreciate you passing along that thread! I’ll dig for more.

Other posts I've seen matched yours in severity and they didn't wipe off - your experience isn't common but it's also not just a one-off.

Edit: Google "burn marks on apple pencil" and see the numerous hits.
