Thanks. I already have some HDs that I want to put in enclosures. I am looking for experiences related to enclosures themselves, not pre-built external HDs.

There aren't that many enclosures with FW ports anyway, and OWC is considered one of the better ones and it supports power over Firewire and USB.
As those FW enclosures are quite hefty in price, I haven't bought one yet, as USB did suffice my portable needs. I prefer FW on 3.5" drives though, and if those enclosures with FW for 2.5" HDDs wouldn't be that expensive, I would buy them too.
Maybe MRoogle can help you finding some user experiences with enclosures.

Scroll to the bottom of the page that spinnerlys provided. There is a section titled "On-The-Go Pro Enclosures "Add your own HD" Kit without Software". Those are the ones you'd be looking for. As for user experience, I have one of these. It has an on/off switch that you just leave in the "on" position. Plug it in to a FireWire 800 port and the disk mounts automatically. The only thing I didn't like about the enclosure is the fact that it's mostly plastic. It has a metal heat sink on the bottom, so I always laid it on my desk heat sink side up to better dissipate the heat.
I swapped out that enclosure for another OWC: this one. It also works as you would expect a bus powered FW800 to work: plug it in and it mounts on the desktop. It's all metal, so I feel better about heat control with this one.
