still lost, where the f*uck is the link stating that if u buy a ford u get a free dell?

You are not loosing it. Couldn't find any mention of on the web myself.

Evidently this is a promotion that is being advertised mostly on TV I guess. Suggest that you take and visit a Ford dealer for more info.

I wish that I could provide you with a link, but I came across this offline, in San Diego County. I don't know if it's a nationwide promotion or not.

quite honestly.. a free computer is a free computer.. Id consider a ford just for the computer if I was in the market for a car...

It is usually free for a reason. Ford must be getting desperate with offer a free Dell. I guess that the rebates just aren't working like they used too. It made me sad when I found out that Volvo was a division a Ford. Volvo is a top quality car.

Ford & Dell, I can't think of a more fitting pair to go together. It's a marriage made in hell. ;)

Volvo isn't so much a division, more like a wholly owned subsidiary. Anyways, I think they're better off like that (I don't know how though :p). Same with Aston Martin (did you see some of their concept cars in the 80's? )

mmm, was. Old volvo's rock. Top quality, practical cars, not too ugly, either. the new ones look like bubbles, (and the SUV is AWFUL) and I bet they aren't going to have a reptuation for lasting once they've gotten old enough to tell if they're any good.

And, yeah, Ford and Dell, good match. Not because they're so hatable, just that both do the job, but not with any style, innovation, elegance, or real long term quality. But, they both do the job.

Actually, Volvo is doing very well. I like their new look. Jaguar is also selling more under Ford, and is much more reliable. Much better than poor Saab under GM. I've been following the whole thing. I bought a Saab because it's unique and pretty powerful for a I-4 turbo FWD, not to be turned into a rebadged GM product.

I've heard many reviews and critics talk about how GM's control of Saab is an example of what NOT to do. Case #1: Saabaru 9-2x. They took an Impreza, and slapped a couple Saab parts on it. Exact same engine, tranny, body, etc. Case #2: Saab 9-7 Envoy. You guessed it, same everything except face, a few interior pieces, steering and suspension. It's aweful.
If you haven't noticed, GM is notorious for rebadging vehicles. Hell, the Envoy is already a Trailblazer, Rainer, and Bravada. Not to mention how all pontiacs have looked the same since the mid eighties. "New" Pontiac GTO? Nope, old Holden Monaro.

Now, take a look at the new Ford Focus, Mazda 3, and Volvo S40. Do it now, and don't read past this until you do.

Guess what, they share the same platform. They saved 15% in costs, yet share no pieces you can see, engine, transmission, or suspension. They look nothing alike. Yeah, Ford really sucks. Take a look at this Porsche killer and tell me Ford sucks.

GM fired 1300 Saab engineers and designers, and make all decisions for them. Ford has done nothing like this.

Granted, they need to start sprucing up Ford cars (die escort die). But I think the new Mustang and GT are a good start.

Sorry, touchy subject for me... :(

I couldn't find a link to this, sorry. There are, however, commercials all over the radio. I also saw an ad for the promotion in the LA Times.

I totally agree with this. I drive a 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 and it is a very well built truck. Very stable for an SUV too. Of course right now since I am in Iraq it is sitting back at the parents farm. We have used Ford vehicles for years and year and have a 1995 F150 with 190,000 miles, still runs great, never been overhauled and used around a farm. Just like the Focus/Mazda 3/Volvo S40 was mentioned, you also need to check out the Volvo S80 and the new Ford Five Hundred, Freestyle and Mercury Montego. Both look very different but are all based on the S80. I don't know for the price of the american sedans you are getting a true Volvo chassis. The S80 is not a bad car. Next year the Ford Fusion will be coming out and it will be based on the new Mazda 6. I would say Ford has A LOT more going for it's car lines right now then GM or DC.

I have had great experiences with DELL computers - notwithstanding the unfortunate operating system supplied by Microsoft.

The idea behind these types of promotions is to combine what are referred to as "non cash assets" from each company into a synergy that provides new exposure for both of them.

Ford must want to increase exposure and position among the demographic that uses Dell and the computer firm must be looking for access to the niche who is loyal to American made cars. It makes sense.

As for what type of car I'd like to see Apple do some promotion with - I think both the Mac and Toyota Prius are examples of unique thinking that actually works. I'd love to see some sort of Mac version of the Prius. An iPod system (like BMW) would be a nice start.

Dells make great, brand-new sources of spare parts.

I've opened and explored them before, and its a pain in the butt to get their drive cages out. But, they do have an easy open case. Hacksaw ALL THE WAY!!

And yes, every 90 seconds I see that commercial here in San Diego, CA. Horrible commerical the first time, the last time, and everytime.
