Why would you want an unlocked version? Uh.....well.....because it's unlocked, for one. You don't need to sign a service contract, or get a data plan if you don't want to. You can also take it to any country and just get a local SIM card.

Anyway, you should be able to get it at a number of shops, particularly any 3 store, since they're the authorised retailer. Yes, the digit "3" is their logo.

I don't know if they sell direct, which is why it's worth checking out mobile shops that sell 3 Mobile plans.

Just been reading through this thread as off to Hong Kong next weekend. Anyone in HK any ideas what the current prices are for an 8G IPhone? I see the HK Apple shop has it for 5400 HKD but I guess other vendors are selling 'offically' unlocked ones a bit cheaper??

Looking at 3's website looks like all IPhones are attached to some kind of data plan unless someone knows otherwise?

I also read that something 'new' is due out from Apple IPhone in July/August this year??

Very grateful for any help.

Cheers.

if i bought a macbook in hongkong. would i be able too bring it back to america?
i heard there could be some trouble

try authorised Apple dealers in HK

Visit Designer Group - they're in Causeway Bay (Windsoe House), IFC Mall (above the Airport Express station) - you shouldn't have any trouble getting Hong Kong iPhones and Macbooks and then using them in the USA.

I bought an AL Macbook in ShenZhen. Brought it back and registered it with eBay AppleCare. Even got an extra two months on it. Sort of odd.

Only one small issue to look out for. At the electronics mart I purchased it from (and this is probably not even an issue in HK), we walked up to take delivery and the reseller was about to put on pirated photoshop, Windows Xp and Word and God knows what else on the MacBook. I had my wife politely tell him we'd be using it in the US. In their culture, he was doing me a favor so I can't really be mad. I just was concerned about IF I needed warranty work at Apple eventually.

Please Help

Hi

i am a newbie to the group and am currently in HK. I am contemplating buying a Macbook for myself. Is it really cheaper in this side of the world? How much and where from should i get it? Is it worthwhile travelling to Shenzhen for getting an Apple product. i am worried about if it will be fake or anything.

Will be grateful if the group can help.

Rahul

I was in HK and find that their Apple product is much more than in US. Not too sure about ShenZhen. I would be really caution about buying MB there.... the fake looks soooooo much like real one that you can't really tell.

But if anyone has bought a real one from ShenZhen, do let me know. I'll be heading there in 1 month.

Be reminded to buy at the HK online store you need HK address & HK credit card. Off the shelf is not officially ( which is a give and take thing in HK ;) ) available. Check my previous post..

Does this mean that I could not buy an iPhone in Apple's Hong Kong Online-Store using my Non-HK credit card, but letting them ship the phone to an address in Hong Kong?
Moreover, you say that off-the-shelf is officially not available. Does this mean that I couldn't walk into the Hong Kong Apple Store and purchase an iPhone?
