I can imagine your buyer would be pissed to find out that they cannot update or even keep the apps upon a restore without your iTunes password.

Buy and sell within a week or so...is this a good idea?

Why not wait just two more weeks and shell out less than a hundred bucks to get both of you brand new 4Gs? None of what you're talking about makes any sense.
I think only one of his lines are upgrade eligible. The other isn't even early upgrade eligible if I understand this right.
I think he's trying to find a really round-about way of saving money while getting a 4G for himself and a 3GS for his wife.
Well if that's the case, then this should work for him.
Upgrade the eligible one to 4G.
Add a new line for 4G.
Cancel non eligible line and pay cheaper ETF.

Ceiph, seriously quoting "Billy Madison?" come on that's lame. For he rest of you I spoke to another CS rep who said when I buy it to just mention that I'm switching numbers to that line and tons of people are calling in looking to do the same thing. Makes sense get her a 3gs sell mine for a 4g and we're all good!!!
Hey whatever you do, make sure to not pay the huge new ETF. Make sure what you are doing works out, my advice.

Here is what I came up with...going to get one today...switch number to that line...
leave previous line open since its contract is up in 3/11 instead of paying the etf of $125 i will just leave it open and then I can use its upgrade if i wanted to for the 4g but i have an upgrade of 12/10....so its cheaper to leave it open then pay the etf 🙂 regardless if i close it 3/11 or use it somehow...its only $100 total (9.99 x 10) instead of $125 🙂 which is what the etf is currently.
Then ill sell my 3gs whenever and wait till december or whatever i do for the 4g im not sure yet...but as far as the other line goes looks like it will work out.
