Hi,

I want to buy an apple watch on Swappa. I don't plan to use cellular functionality, I have no need for it.

The watch I want to buy is locked to Verizon, my iPhone 11 was bought direct from Apple unlocked.
My carrier is T-Mobile.

Will I be able to use the Verizon watch without cellular as GPS only? Will it being locked to Verizon cause any issue?

Thanks!

I believe that the watch isn't "locked" to any particular carrier, as it "connects" to the phone and that carrier. However, if it hasn't been paid off, there may be some complication there.

As noted above, the watch isn't "locked" to any one service provider, it follows and uses whatever carrier that the phone uses. However, if the watch is used, be sure it's not "iCloud" locked, and the previous owner has removed it from their account, otherwise, you'll just buy a pretty, shiny brick.

Here is what I have found. As long as you are SURE the watch is paid off, then it is possible to use an ATT watch on Verizon. If there are ATT contractual obligations still associated with the watch, Verizon cellular activation will fail.

For the OP, there should be no issue as long as it is not "iCloud" locked as previous poster mentions.
