Hi Guys,

A UK retailer currently has the stainless steel cellular S5 watch 44mm (with sport band) on promo for £329 (roughly $440). I've ordered one in case they sell out, however not sure if I should keep or cancel the order. I've been looking to upgrade my S3 non-cellular for a while, and at this price I thought it was a good opportunity.

Do you think I should keep, or cancel and wait for S7?

Thanks,

Dan

Amazon are selling some Aluminium Series 6 44mm GPS with Sport Band for £399, and I got mine from Currys for £409 a few weeks ago (I avoid Amazon).

So, options are:
1. Keep the Series 5. Total spend £329.
2. Cancel the Series 5 and get a Series 6. Total spend £399.
3. Wait another 9 months until the Series 7 is released, and pay the usual £429. Total spend £429, but no Watch for 9 months.

I'd get the Series 6.

Just to confirm, the £329 is for the SS Cellular version, so not sure if that changes the above?

If it’s brand new, that’s a good deal for a series 5 SS 44mm. I’d say go for it, but it depends on how much you care about having the latest updates/tech. The only thing I’d like to have from the Series 6 over my 5 is the brighter display and slightly increased battery life. The blood oxygen monitor doesn’t matter to me. You have to decide if those things matter to you.

As far as the Series 7 goes, it’s anyone’s guess what it will feature. The next year will always bring a better model with more features.

I bought one (sbss5 from Currys) and have buyers remorse lol. I have just sold my s4 on ebay so am in the process of wondering whether to cancel or look for an s6 deal (alu). I think I will stick with the S5 as
i am used to the steel and it has cellular (alu 6 cellular still £500!)
Don't forget you can always sell a few weeks prior to the 7 being released. My biggest fear is the battery life of the 5.

Yeah, it does. Do you need the Cellular? You're going to pay for the monthly data plan with your network?

My Series 6 (and the Series 4 I used for two years before that) were always near my iPhone or on the Wi-Fi so I never needed the Cellular model.

On the other hand, with it being Stainless Steel, it does whack the price up, so £329 is pretty much a steal.

Unless stainless steel is a must have requirement, get the series 6 cellular for about the same (or close to it price). There is nothing wrong with the series 5 but, I think for the money, it would be better to get the aluminum 6 cellular.

I also bought the S5 stainless steel watch on sale (40mm version with Milanese band but likely to swap the band). £329 is a great price but I'm also wondering if I should have bought a S6 aluminium at £479. The differences seem to be minor (such as slightly better processor, brighter always on display, better WiFi etc) which may or may not be noticeable in everyday use. The oxygen sensor is obviously a new feature which could be good for fitness but could also turn out to be a gimmick. Apple should support the S6 longer which could be beneficial (assuming I keep the watch!) I'm leaning towards going with the S5 and possibly upgrading to the S7 next year. Mine arrived today but I haven't opened it yet. Have you decided what you're going to do?

I also got this deal! I am really happy with my series 4 but fancied the stainless steel and the sapphire. It just looks super premium. First SS Apple Watch. Should be here tomorrow! Can’t wait!

I would do it. Starting with S4 is where you got the 30% bigger screen if I remember correctly. I had a S5 and didn't have any battery issues. I kept AOD and raise to wake always on.

Definitely get the SS S5 for that price. I’ve got an S5 aluminium and it’s a great watch and still as good as the day I got it. There is so little difference between the S5 and S6 I really wouldn’t bother when you can get a stainless model that cheap.

I just saw 1x left for SS cellular S5 Milanese black at £349. They are really reducing to clear. It was out of stock within 20 mins.

What I want to reiterate is you can’t fault at this pricing for SS cellular.

I just had Cellular S6 from Currys with 10% vouchercloud and 6.5% reduced gift card at £400 last 2 weeks ago.

Personally, I prefer Aluminium 40mm for any series.
Lighter and watch is out of the way not staring at me with its big face of 44mm.

You can still get 2 days out of it which is pretty good as smart watches go.
I agree, I went from an S3 to S4 and now have an S5. I can’t tell a difference in battery life. (I keep AOD on and use it similarly - approx 100+ Email notifications and 60-90 mins of workouts leaves me with about 50% batt by the time I take it off at around 10pm)

Well what in particular are wanting in your new watch? If you won't miss features in the S5, i would upgrade.
