I had been thinking of replacing my four year old MacBook Air during the holiday season or next year, but the talk of 25% tariffs has me thinking I should move it up (should the tariffs be implemented) to save hundreds of dollars.

I know new Mac laptops will be unveiled this month or next, so it will be trade-off between taking old technology or paying hundreds more. Would next year's models be worth the extra cost (based on likely updates), or would it better to just buy the current model?

The future is exceptionally cloudy. But if I had a 2014 MBA and it still worked for what I needed, I would probably wait it out. If it didn't work for what I needed, I would buy a replacement.

Wait, that is if your current rig can get you through the next 6-12 months.

Likely, the impact of tariffs will be significant enough to get the Chinese and US governments into negotiations to correct the situation.

Does that affect warranty coverage and AppleCare eligibility if the country of purchase and residence aren't the same?
i dont think so. i have purchased iphones and macs from US before. and got warranty coverage in UK. never had any problem.
