Mac Mall sent me a defective iBook and wouldn't take it back. The screw that holds the battery was stripped out of the box. It came late and I needed it to take on a trip. After much complaining, they promised me a $10 rebate on the next thing I ordered. I never ordered from them again and "fixed" the stripped screw with duct tape. MacMall blows.

Knocking MacConnection

As long as a couple of people have said good things about Mac/PC Connection, I'm going to throw in my experience. Someone's got to knock them down.

Their tracking system doesn't exist. When I ordered from them, my shipment spent a week "pending" and didn't change status until it arrived in my office.

Then, I spent the next 3 months getting *daily* reminders that I should buy AppleCare for my new system. Had I bought a new system from them, I would have appreciated maybe two reminders to buy Applecare. But, what I bought from them was a Mighty Mouse. I really didn't need 90 reminders to get AppleCare for my mouse. Freaks.

MacWarehouse/CDW, CompUSA, and Apple all rate well with me. :)

MacMall policies - beware

My new 24" iMac had problems within days of its arrival, and MacMall's telephone Tech Support suggestions were unsuccessful.

The Apple Store tech diagnosed a faulty logic board, and he wanted me to return the iMac to MacMall to be issued a new computer. But, it is not MacMall's policy to replace, and instead I am in a one month stranglehold of FedExing the computer back to Memphis, TN then waiting while they diagnosed the faulty logic board and now they have ordered the new part. Next will be the repair and shipment back to me, and that time is uncertain.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND ANYONE OUT THERE CONSIDERING MACMALL TO SERIOUSLY RE-CONSIDER!

Okay, due to my escalating concerns brought on my each new complaint I read about Mac Mall, I broke-down and called them regarding a shipping estimate for an order placed yesterday for a MacBook. Their website lists the item as "in-stock, with same day shipping". However the lady I spoke with says that my order is still in the verification stage (even though my cc has already been charged), and she couldn't give me a shipping estimate. In fact she kept trying to give me another number to call for any further questions - which seems to imply that this could be an ordeal that I would need to phone them about (again). I don't know about you, but I rarely ever phone a company regarding online sales. That's the beauty of shopping online (that and no sales tax!). Anyway, these people are definitely not the "#1 Apple Direct Reseller".

Again, if I had to do this over again, I might very well just pay the extra $100 and order it through a more reputable merchant - probably Amazon.

Ben, relax, don't complain about spilt milk til the glass start to tip, right now it's filled to the brim!

MAc Mall, PC Connection OR......????????

I was going to buy a MAC BOOK PRO from Mac Mall, but based upon the bad reviews on this thread i am seriously reconsidering. The rebates and the price are attractive though.

I also came across PC Connection which seems to have good reviews FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. Anybody have any experience with them?

ANY help wiill be appreciated.

I have had about 15 years of on again, off again experience with MacMall (and formerly MacWarehouse). Everytime I give them the benefit of the doubt, foolishly thinking, 'hey, it's be a few years, maybe they've changed'. Oh how wrong I've always been. It comes down to one thing, HORRIBLE customer service. I've been hit with restocking fees for DOA equipment, bothered with non-stop upsell tactics, and just generally can't stand these guys anymore. Do yourself a favor and buy a machine from Amazon or NewEgg

I bought my MBP from MacMall incident-free. However, their customer service is non-existent. If I lived where you live, I think I'd go with Apple.com or Amazon, just for the peace of mind.

We've purchased more than half our equipment here in the office from MacMall, and I bought my home iMac from them. Never once had a problem with them.

I hate MacMall--once I ordered a $999 iMac G3, and they sent me the $799 one instead. They charged me 799, but they wouldn't exchange it for the one I ordered unless I paid a "restocking fee." I'll never order from them again.

If you know exactly what you want you should be fine, but if you are even remotely unsure God help you. Their support staff is useless and recommend products that are not necessarily compatible with your system.

I've used them a couple of times. I bought my first mac from them(mac mini), a 26" lcd tv, and some external drives. I never had any problems with them. But then again I never had problems with the stuff I bought either. I plan on getting a 24" imac at some point and will probably use macmall again. I guess I need to cross my fingers and hope I don't have problems. I guess for me it's worth the risk to save $250.

That's the problem right there. Should've told him no and had Apple repair the computer under warranty, like they're supposed to do.

Yes, that makes no sense. That would be like going to the local mechanic for an oil change and brake adjustment and him telling you to take it back to the dealer to exchange the car out...

I've purchased three computers from MacMall and ram, never had a problem. I did this knowing that their customer service was known to be awful. But I cannot complain. No company is perfect, but MacMall is at least safer then buying from eBay.

Boiler Room Sales Tactics at MacMall ???

Hadn't used MacMall for many many years and decided to give them a try yesterday. We're building a new server for the office and we ordered four (4) XSERVE 2GZ QX 1GB/80/CB/2XGBE/OSXUNL units from MacMall. It appeared to be a pretty good deal, considering they are year old technology (which is OK for a server).

Everything went off fine until I got a call today from a guy named Mark at extension 8777 who proceeded to push the extended service policy for the computers like a demon-possessed used car salesman. This joker was yelling and interrupting and actually at one point told me how dumb I was for not wanting the policy since Apple stuff breaks within a year (excuse me, my current G5 servers have run for over six years straight without any problems).

I canceled the order....

... and will go back to ordering directly from Apple's online store. At least their computer won't tell me how dumb I am for buying their products.

Like most will agree, MacMall (Outside of the checking of credit cards) has pretty bad service...

Last month I ordered a keyboard from MacMall. The website said that it would ship the next day. Several days passed and it still had not shipped. I called and, after waiting on hold for over an hour, I was told that it would arrive in their warehouse on the 21st and would ship to me then.

When the 22nd arrived, I called and enquired about the status of my order. The person that I spoke to told me that he didn't know why I was told that it would be in their warehouse on the 21st (I guess that the first guy just wanted to placate me). He asked me if I wanted to cancel my order. I did so reluctantly, thinking that I woudn't be able to find it at an equal or lower price elsewhere but not wanting to be pushed around anymore.

To my surprise, I found the exact same keyboard on Amazon.com at about half the shipping & handling price. I ordered it there and, not only did I save a few dollars, but it arrived ahead of their delivery estimate.

I've ordered several products through them and they have always been fast and reliable. The mail in rebates only took about 3 weeks total after I mailed them off, which to me is fast compared to most companies. I wouldn't hesitate to order anything from them.

Every computer I have ever purchased has been through MacMall. 100% amazing in terms of price, ship time, and everything.
