I haven't seen this answered anywhere.....

If you buy a new iMac at the Apple store, do they allow you to select the full sized keyboard? Do they basically open the box and take the new small one out and hand you a boxed full sized version?

Why don't you phone up the nearest store and ask? Different stores may have different policies, and some might stock "BTO" configs (like with the full keyboard) that others don't.

I was trying to see if people had experienced it in store yet. Man...I love replies like this.

I called my local Apple store and they said you have to customize online to get the larger keyboard. Personally, I think that stinks. Way to go Apple.....you found yet another revenue stream.

How is that? They're the same price and shipping is free...

So if I go to buy an iMac in the Apple store, I only get the smaller keyboard. If I want the full size I need to buy it.

Only way to not have to buy it is order the iMac online. That's something so people don't want to do.

I recently purchased an iMac and this exact situation really frustrated me.

I completely dislike the keyboard without the numeric pad so I pleaded my case to the apple specialist who agreed that it's ridiculous, but unfortunately she was unable to do anything about it.

I said I'd try this one out and if it really became an issue I will just fork out the $40.00 for the other keyboard. Which sucks....
