Hi, I am currently in Hong Kong on vacation and thinking of buying an Iphone 8 plus, however they only sell model A1864. From what I have understood this model is the same if not better than A1897 as it supports CDMA and GSM and have Qualcomm. However according to Apples website (https://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/#iphone-8-iphone-8-plus) I should buy the A1897 model as that is the one that supports my LTE network.

Could anyone clarify if there would be a problem if I bought the A1864 model instead.

I live in Sweden btw.

Thank you.

If both models support the same band, it should be ok to buy one from Hong Kong.

Get the A1864. It’s a true world phone and will work in Sweden or anywhere else in the world.

Maybe not in Japan as their phones has a few more bands.

My previous iPhone 6 and current 7 plus (All HK model) work just fine while I was in japan on different occasions. Maybe it doesn’t work on every band in Japan but I had no problem while I was in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto with Docomo.

Guess it is carrier dependent, or there will be a few more black spots in Japan without the three additional bands. Nothing much of a big deal I think.
