I understand how contracts, policies and rules might seem just a waste of time for someone as important and entitled as you. I mean - Apple should definitely allow you Applecare AFTER A YEAR of you having an opportunity to sign up. That's clearly them cheating you.

Are you SERIOUS?!

why the hell would i sign up any time prior to the end of my original warranty - it doesn't make logical sense. read any threads about this topic. i thought apple was all about customer satisfaction. i spent $600 to get the iphone, i mean the least they can do is let me pay them another 70 to keep it under warranty. as a customer paying these kind of prices for products, i do feel entitled to get a 8 hour extension to buy my applecare.

well i still buy apple - and at full price - but when i walk into the apple store a day after my warranty runs and attempt to buy an apple care with a fully functioning iphone and they tell me i can't - thanks apple - whos cheating who.QUOTE]

don't get me started on how apple's products are overpriced and secondly the fact that cell phone providers rape their customers with contracts and outrageous prices for text and data - not to mention a hefty data plan for the iphone.

1) Applecare must be activate within 1 year of purchase of product to be covered
2) You are in the USA - we have the Gillette razor model of business here. Get the razor/iPhone at a ridiculously low price, then pay through the nose for blades/service. The rest of the world pays full price for the phone, and can haggle for service. That's the way it is here.
3) YOU seem to be the only one who wishes to CHEAT the system. Don't look for sympathy on this forum.

Your complaining that after the warranty expires they don't honor it.

I think under the circumstances you're fully justified in going to the applestore and when nobody is looking putting an iPhone in your pocket. They have no right in denying the warranty when its was already expired. They should have let you keep the warranty as long as you needed it without any expiration date :p

Oh. So you were serious.

There's simply no response I can (honestly) make without the risk of being kicked of the message board.

You could have added AppleCare the last week of your 1-year opportunity. But apparently you are too cheap, too deserving and think rules don't apply to you.

We can't help you here. Most of us are just sheep who blindly follow the rules and regulations put upon us by the nasty corporations of ATT and Apple.

Since you're above us all - you must show us how it's done!

This thread is one of the most ridiculous ones I've ever read.

You are the epitomy of selfish and spoiled. It's a shame when you left the store with your iphone after having a year to put it under warranty that it's didnt just fry itself out of spite.

okay apple fanboys...congratulations we have reached a dead end. you love apple and i love my iphone. apparently we are not going to get very far in arguing but in my opinion apple products are overpriced - maybe im wrong in trying to find ways to get around those high prices - but one thing is for sure mac will never dominate the market the way pc does due largely to high prices. obviously apple realizes this as they have lowered their prices on all their computers. cool, thanks, bye

And another troll returns to his cave.

P.S. I'm no fanboy - just mature and pragmatic.

So you don't get your way and that means we're fanboys?

Newsflash - I JUST switched over to an iphone this week. First time. I also JUST got my first Mac earlier this year.

I'm no fanboy. I just think your attitude is disgusting and filled with self-entitlement (as I've mentioned in my posts to you)

You seriously blame apple for your epic failure in signing up for applecare before 365 days were up. That's not Apple, that's YOU.

You asked if there was any way you can buy a phone for cheap without ATT finding out. We told you - no - you couldn't. YOU not liking the answer is YOUR fail. Not Apple's. Not ATT's.

Cool. Thanks. Bye.

Okay you're not a fanboy...but you're on a mac forum at 11am on a tuesday. do you have a job? i hope not because if you're sitting there in front of your computer chatting on a flipping forum while you're at work that is disturbing.

great for productivity

You have NO idea what my job is or entails. And hypocrisy seems to be another character flaw you have.

I wish you the best of luck. Not with Apple and ATT - but in life. You're clearly special.

So the whole iPhone upgrade/don't activate saga was just an elaborate way for you to vent about Apple's (in your eyes) over priced products?

i was content with the answer i received from most of the users...but if i get attacked and criticized for my question, then sure i dont mind responding with my own personal opinion about apple.

i know that last post was tough to swallow for those of you at work. sorry

in what way am i a hypocrite?

once again, i thank those who gave me positive/helpful answers instead of those who rashly attacked me.

Aren't you here on a Tuesday posting/reading? Do YOU have a job? Next time you point a finger at someone else - remember that 3 fingers point back at you.

My original post to you was sincere "Because unless I'M mistaken - when you buy your iPhone, you have to give your social security # (no? I don't know for certain as I upgraded to the 3gs vi att). You can activate or not activate at home - but ultimately, I would imagine the info is shared between att and apple as to where their phones are. "

But you then took off in this thread like a bull in china shop. You didn't want help really. You wanted everyone to tell you to stick it to the man and that you deserve everything you are asking for. The SECOND that didn't happen, we became fanboys.

Again - it's not us. It's you.

But I'm sure you're very nice person in real life. Your communication skills just come off really poorly here :)

Why they are so cheap.

Maybe some of us are Apple Fanboys. Here is the deal. Paying $99 dollars for an iPhone 3G 8GB is the price you will pay if you agree to p[ay a minimum of $69.99 a month for two years. If you buy from the Apple Online Store and don't activate with in 30 days, AT&T has the right to charge you for the full price of the handset. They are giving you around $400.00 off the phone and expect to get the $400.00 back from your bills. If you don't want an iPhone on a contract, just pay $499.99 for 8 GB iPhone 3G, $599.99 for a 16 GB iphone 3GS, or $699.99 for a 32 GB iPhone 3GS. Or pay $99, $199, or $299.99 and AGREE TO PAY $69.99 A MONTH.

Or you could buy an iPod touch. $229.99 8GB touch, $299.99 16 GB touch. or $399.99 for a 32GB touch.
Stop trying to commit fraud. You would be making at&t lose about $400.00! Maybe you can give me $699.99 so I can buy that new 32 GB iPhone 3GS the right way, with out committing fraud.

If you don't understand any of this, You really are dumb.
