can u still buy the iPhone 3G without a contract at full price from apple stores or best buys?

Not in the U.S.A.... or ever in the U.S.A. for that matter...

Get one from some other country factory unlocked for $600 to $1,000.

You've never been able to do that 🙄. Every iPhone that is purchased in the store has to be activated before you leave.

I beleive you can still buy them at the full retail price at the ATT stores but I think you need to have a service plan in place.
