I am switching to Verizon (from ATT) and am looking to upgrade from the 6+ to the X. I am switching carriers because Verizon works better where I am.

Anyway, one of the reps at a verizon store told me that sometimes they offer deals for switching providers (he said the deal they had that week was $200 master card gift card). There is nothing now, but wondering if anyone recommends waiting a bit for this to happen?

Also, best buy had a "deal" this past weekend where you could get up to $200 bb gift card (my 6+ was appraised at $175).

I am thinking trade in deals will be the only thing for the X for a while. I want the X soon (within this week), so what do you recommend or has anyone heard of any verizon deals coming up?

I can afford the phone, but would like to save money if I could like anyone else.

No offense intended but why the need to justify your ability to afford the phone? I have noticed a lot of this on macrumors lately and it is not a good thing - and this is not directed at you but just a general observation.

This is a premium product as most Apple products are, and it is very expensive. We all want it because we love what Apple makes so there is no need to justify whether you can afford it or not.

Everyone here should want to save money when buying it - I don’t care who you are, $1,200 is a lot for a phone.

I got mine through the AT&T loyalty deal - $699 for the 256 gig.

I believe Target had (maybe still has) a deal wherein if you switched to Verizon and got an iPhone, they were offering $300 off per device per line if I remember correctly.

Either way, there’s bound to be more offers enticing potential customers as we get even closer to Christmas and New Years.

Also, check out Costco.

If your willing to wait a week. Post your phone on Craigslist for $300-$350 it best offer and see if it sells. Anything more then what Verizon will give is the best thing to do imo. Then go straight to Verizon or bestbuy and pick up your x. I recommend bestbuy, since they usually have them in stock.

Call VZW and tell them you are thinking about switching from ATT. IMHO, the time of year is unimportant. They are looking to get customers because, generally, people don’t jump carriers often.

Personally, I’d negotiate credits against future bills instead of a cash value gift card. They know the time value of money as well as you should. They are more likely to give you a higher value in credits than in up front rebates.

Thanks for the replies.

I will see what I can find and report back. I already received the case for it so I am ready to go.
