My own experience...I bought. But I bought a 2013 base 13" for $704.99. I can't tell you what to do.

i was actually referring to thunderbolt hub

Buy it, I like it compared to my Belkin TB hub. Had some power draw issues with the Belkin. So far no power issues with the Elgato.
