Hes wrong. You could return it and buy another one. I think he thinks your talking about exchanging, but if you return one after 13 days and then purchase another you shouldnt have a problem.

Yeah buying and returning is fine. Most stores do take your ID to prevent you from doing such things so watch out cause they can flag you after a while.
