I am trying to decide which to buy. The Apple Watch 6 or wait for the 7. I am not a watch guy. Never was. But I want to buy my first Apple Watch for the health benefits. Being able to check 02 levels, pulse & heart beat irregularities on the 6 finally sold me. There is rumor that the 7 may add the ability to check glucose levels, but this hasn’t been confirmed. Would be great tho. I also heard that the 7 may change form factor & get a better battery life. I don’t care about the form factor, but a longer battery life is always good. So i am on the fence until i hear more solid news.

Are you diabetic?

Are you diabetic?
No, but it runs in my family. I am very athletic, so i am not worried. But still it would be cool to keep track of. If anything, since its so close to the upgrade cycle, i am mostly interested in better battery life perhaps.

I'm in my mid 40s, athletic, and I was deciding between the SE and S6. I went with the SE because 1) it's cheaper, and 2) I don't feel I'm at risk for heart issues (S6 has ECG and O2) yet. So for now I figured the SE makes more sense. At some point I'll be higher risk for heart issues and at that point I'd certainly shell out for the ECG, O2, and whatever else they have at that time, but for now it just doesn't seem worth it to me. The blood sugar is the same - I'm not at significant risk of diabetes at this point so I'm not interested in spending the money on it (assuming it comes in S7).

Having said that - if there's a good deal on the S6 that would be something to consider, but at full retail (and there were no good deals available to me) the SE made more sense to me.

The new design might be cool. More battery life would be phenomenal. I think you made a good decision. The series 6 is a great watch and, at that price, it would barely cost you anything to flip it for the series 7…if you wanted to do so.

I don't think we will see major improvements with the new watch. I think it will be anther spec update. At this point, I think blood sugar and bp readings are several more years down the road.
Yeah, the glucose sensor would be an epic breakthrough for a watch considering people have to prick their finger and draw blood currently to monitor their levels. So part of me thinks we won’t see this for awhile.

Any chance for a new generation of AW before fall?

Considering a 6 44 Cellular, but hate buying stuff that is upgraded shortly after. There are almost no discounts to be had either.

I don’t think we will see Series 7 earlier than fall. It would be quite a short cycle. If you don’t have any Watch and want some, go for 6. If you are willing to wait, then wait after summer. 😞 I bought S6 because I never had any and it was a very sweet deal, I got S6 40mm and Apple Care+ and still save some money in comparison with original price.

I had a Apple Watch 3 liked it so much upgraded to Apple Watch 6 and wow it is so much faster! Plus a little bigger but not much. I do like the larger screen though!

The only thing I dislike about the Apple Watch is apps like our AC app does not work unless it already been opened on my iPhone :(

Sucks.

Bought the 6 yesterday, life to short to wait and wait for the next big thing.
Probably a good choice, I was just hesitating as it seems almost all types of AW is out of stock around here with dates pushing into late july/august. That often happens when new stuff is around the corner...

im considering getting a 6 series too or wait for the 7 with new designs/functions when it comes in september. but i like to wear it for health related and excercise. plus notications since my phone is always in the drawer or my pockets. i used to have a 4 but didn't like it after a couple of weeks and returned it but having second thoughts.

i dont know gimmicky but now my opinions changed. healthwise good to track your movements heart beats and whatnot make calls answer without having to bring your phone. contemplating on cellular+GPS or just gps.

I went for GPS only (battery, my usage and moving abroad for a few months where providers doesn’t support cellular one). And it’s up to you. Maybe you would be OK with 6 and its health features and also it could be a good price, sometimes - like mine was.

Or SE if you want it quickly. If someone wants to wait for 7, then it shouldn’t be asking if it’s OK to go for a 6. If someone doesn’t want to wait, then go for a 6.

Well, I just bought my third AW6 last week. This one I got as a birthday gift for a long time friend. I enjoy mine, and figured she will enjoy the health features as well. Got her the aluminum silver with Pink Sand band.

Yeah, life is too short. If I see something I like, I want others around me to have them too.

If one has multiple hobbies, and expensive ones like photography, crypto and art collection, money can end up being much shorter than life. So no harm in waiting just a bit more - just to be sure. I got the iPhone 8 because the iPhone X wasn't easily available and instead of waiting, got one and had regret for quite a while

In this instance I’m not sure if it’s new products near release causing the delay and/or Apple just notably under forecasted demand on several products (or they did forecast high but sales went far off the charts). Apple fiscal 2021 (Oct 2020 to Sept 2021) may see Apple not too far from 400 billion in revenue. That could be a jump of 100 billion from 2020. That’s staggering. It’s equivalent to adding all of General Electric or Johnson & Johnson in a single year. A few analysts keep an eye on supply chain and lead times. Street rumor (only rumor) is these metrics have been longer times on several products — longer than they’re used to seeing(IPhone was up but wasn’t one seeing abnormal delay).
In the past holiday quarter Wearables accounted for 12% of revenue (more than Mac or iPad). Watch (the stellar performer), Airpods, Beats products, General accessories = 13 billion. The smartwatch market upside is very big and it may be Apple is seeing that growth accelerate faster than anticipated.

Or maybe you just need to look on Amazon or Walmart or Bb 😀

Agreed and That’s how I went too(though I got , I think, a very good price in May from Walmart, $329 40mm GPS Space Gray). I Don’t have a heart issue (or blood ox) but The Historical data especially for the heart can be valuable. Also, It’s something you don’t need until you do need it.

Prior to the AW S6 I paid little attention to these things. Now I lightly monitor sleep, pulse and sinus rhythm, blood ox etc. imho it’s a great health investment that also gives you value added functionality of calling, texting, alerts, music, some eco controls. Just can’t say enough about how much I like my AW S6.

I have the S4 and am 95% sure I’m upgrading to the S7 this year. I usually upgrade my watches every 2 years, but I wanted to upgrade my phone last year and will not be upgrading my 12 Pro Max this year. Hopefully whatever they announce will benefit me more than the S4.

The sleep thing is what gets me. I'm relatively healthy, and am very active. That is until I look at my actual hours sleep. They are so few, even though I spend many hours in bed. This worries me.

I'm not upgrading my 12 pro max either. I'm keeping it for a few years. It's a beautiful, impressive piece of technology. But say, if AW changes its form factor to square? I might take the opportunity to upgrade to a stainless steel one. Because aesthetically, I can't stand square edges with round edges- that would totally bother me....;):):D
