Buy Sim Card Online?

Hi,
I am a newb when it comes to phones. I have a Iphone 5 and I have a few questions?
I paid in full for a 256 Gb Iphone 8 Plus. I plan on using Verizon. Do I have to go to an actual store to get the sim card? Can the Iphone 5 sim card be put into the Iphone 8 plus and work?
I am on AT&T right now. Is there a chance I can transfer my phone number over?
I would prefer not to have to have to deal with long lines on friday. And if I can get everything I need off of Amazon prime. That would be amazing.

First, are you a Verizon customer ?
If you are not then you need to call Verizon and setup a account or go into a Verizon Corp Store and get a account setup & they will give you a SIM card. It seems from your post you are a At&t customer so you will need to go to the Verizon Corporate store. They can transfer your number.
