I have to agree, I would be upset too if I had to exchange my new phone for a refurbished unit. You pay 200 for it new. Refurbished or "Refreshed" units sell for $50 or $100 less. You're getting screwed. Now if I had originally purchased a refurb and something was wrong, I wouldn't mind a refurbished unit as a replacement.

Also, the theory that refurbished units go through a thorough testing is somewhat BS. I have 2 different relatives who had to have their phones replaced with refurb's and the refurbs were WORSE than there originals; i.e. - one had slight scratches on the back & 6 dead pixels. the other refurb had a light leak the entire length of the left side and when moving the phone, something inside rattled.

In Portugal we have a 14 day or 30 day return policy , depending on the store) for electronic equipment. We can buy something and if within that period we decide we don't like it we can return it no questions asked (as long as we have all the packaging and there's no scratches on the equipment) or if there's something wrong with it we can exchange for another one.

For some reason, with the iPhone we can't do that. Apparently that's an apple policy, and they can only send iPhones for repairs, they can't exchange them, even within that period. The thing is people don't know that. They expect the policy to be the same as with every other piece of electronic equipment sold in Portugal.

No matter what
Apple quality gone down really bad. I returned MacBook air dye to several craps and I totally feel what you got there. But what can we do? Sell it and to buy blackberry? No we are sold we are slaves to apple.
Good luck to you and take care

here's the clincher, I didnt pay 200 for it, I paid 800 CHF for it (probably about 750 USD). So now you can understand even more so :)

And summerboy's post about apple's quality. Wow man, totally agree. But like you say, everything I do is apple. I'd never want to use a windows mobile device, I just don't like how they run (I was forced to use a HTC Kaiser for 6 months, and it was painful).

And to the last post there, if it comes back PERFECT in every single way, then fine. But the fact that it had to be repaired (which takes 2 weeks), not replaced, at 13 days from purchase date, is a joke.

If the refurb comes back and everything is perfect, what does it matter?
Because that is NOT what I paid for. I paid for a new phone. I'd have preferred a refurb price for that, because in the end, that is what I am getting. Shady.

HAHAHHAHAH i got a text on my loaner phone last nifght "come and pick up my repaired phone"

I just picked it up, and sure enough, they didnt do ANYTHING!!!! Nothing was replaced. in fact there are several new scratches on the unit.

I am BEYOND PISSED OFF.

EDIT: Spoke to Apple. My serial number is from Sweden, not Switzerland. Thus, I was FRAUDULENTLY sold this phone. They said to demand a new phone because a Swedish phone is not permitted to be repaired in Switzerland apparently.

I went to the shop and they simply sent it out again after a huge argument. But what could I really do, throw stuff around? (seemed like a great idea though)

Nice work Orange, great work being on the customers side. I really question what planet I live on.
