I agree there's no such thing as oversized storage, seeing as I have well in excess of 10 Terrabytes, but I really wouldn't want a 10 Terrabyte Mini. Most HD movies are only 1GB, so I would take about 10 and maybe a couple of TV episodes, they're only around 3 or 400mb. Most of my music is in the cloud, if I needed any of that I would just download a few albums.

Now if I was really going away for a long time, I would take my Surface which has one of those funny things called a USB port and a 2 Terrabyte Portable HDD full of entertainment.

Yeah well it's only because the technology is not up yet to have a 1TB storage with single NAND chip. When we're get there I would rather go with one single 10TB iPad + its charger instead of a laptop, external HDD and cable.

There's some pretty good beats deals on Target.com. Beats studio are $60 off and Powerbeats and Beats solo 2 are $40 off. Discounts are in effect until November 1st.

As of 2014, most SSDs use NAND-based flash memory, which retains data without power. For applications requiring fast access, but not necessarily data persistence after power loss, SSDs may be constructed from random-access memory (RAM). Such devices may employ separate power sources, such as batteries, to maintain data after power loss.[5]"

Awesome didn't know that. I was pretty sure though that the iPad/iPhone used a flash based SSD, and not RAM based? So would it still be called RAM if it doesn't even use RAM? I see what you're saying, but there are a few types of SSD.

BestBuY make it hard to look away from them with prices like these.

i always hear horror stories buying apple devices from best buy. the highly emotional and experientially repetitive nature of such threads leads me to believe it's not uncommon, and a huuuge pain in the ass if you have to jump through geeksquad hoops. i stick to the apple store and applecare for PCs and devices, get accessories through BB.

edit: WOW apple store refurbished models have all these prices beat if they're available. check there, screw best buy. $100 cheaper or you can pay just $40 more than BB's offer for the wifi-cellular combo instead of wifi only. way better deals and no BB to deal with

True as i've been through those GeekSquad hoops.

My apologies for bring a smart alec, but it's Terabyte, not Terrabyte. The wrong spelling makes me cringe :-/

I probably didn't use it in the right context, but like I said, people use the term a lot these days with the number of SSDs and other RAM based storage around.

SSD storage comes in both flash and "RAM based storage". One is volatile the other non-volatile.

There is a huge difference in a) access times and b) throughput !
a) is measured in nano seconds, the other in milliseconds.
b) is measured in GB/s, the other in MB/s

The difference between "RAM" and "flash storage" is larger than previously between flash storage and hard drive storage. Factor 100x vs 1000x .

Ergo, iPad RAM vs flash storage is NOT interchangeable!

That's a ridiculous amount of ram for a consumption device, it's not a computer. I've got a 32gb Air with stacks of apps, over 1500 photos, hundreds of songs and I've still got about 4gb left. 64gb maybe, 128 overkill.
You can spend whatever you like, I know I do, doesn't alter the fact that you gave the wrong impression or didn't realise what you were saying. Anyway enjoy your music.

Your simultaneous arrogance and ignorance is comical.

I have an iPad mini 2/retina with 128 Gb of storage.

Its mostly filled with music video's and a few movies.

Don't think your reply matters, it's clear that the person who quoted this is just out to troll. Either that or he's really ignorant.

Is there anywhere in the UK (or at least in Europe) that's currently offering discounts on the 64GB Wi-Fi only iPad mini 2?

Preferably the silver/white version, but space grey/black would do! Thanks

anyone know if MacBook Air will be updated soon?

thinking of trading in an old MBP for the Air 13" but don't want to if a new version is going to release soon and drive the prices down even further.
