Hey guys, I just sold my 13" MacBook that I bought 2 months ago. I paid $1275 for it on MacMall and got the $65.00 rebate.

So I sold it yesterday for $1000 cash :)

Now, I want to buy the new MacBook Pro 13" model lowest end... here are the budget breakdown

13" MacBook Pro - $1099.00 (Student Discount)
120GB iPod - $249.00 ($229.00 rebate)
Subtotal: $1348.00
Tax: $117.27
Total w/ Tax: $1465.27
Rebate: -$229.00
Resold Mac: -$1000
Total (Overall): $236.27

So basically, I would end up paying this much in the end... so pretty much I paid for the iPod but got the upgrade from a MacBook to MacBook pro.

Worth it?

What do you guys think?

New 13" MBPs are same as old 13" MBs... There's no significant changes, just minor speed bumps and three more letter in its name.

I know... but then again... it has the backlit keyboard which was only available on the higher end MacBook's.

Besides, I get an iPod for free which evens out my losses. :)

Making the purchase now!!!

You actually didn't get the free printer with it

so no, this wasn't the best deal possible.

Not to mention swapping the MB for the MBP was really frivolous.

I've heard the free printer is horrid anyways, you gotta actually pay to get one of the decent ones.

Frivolous in what way?

If we're talking about the BEST deal then you could sell the printer and make more money back. And CC cashback.

Frivolous because he's obviously a young kid with no job and living off of parental handouts.

He has no definitive reason to get a new Mac from his overuse of 'haha' and obvious arrogance to ask such a pointless question, get the answer he was looking for, then post how he thinks he got a good deal now.

I love how you assume that I'm a kid with no job. FYI, I am a college student pursuing a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and believe it or not, I work for the University Housing as an RA (Resident Assistant).

I would have done the same thing. Better screen and KB backlight would have been enough ^^

Gotta agree with audioslavery. Come on here asking for opinions and make the purchase before any responses. You already knew it was worth it, you just wanted everyone else to know about it. On top of that, you gotta let everyone know about the fact you have a high school diploma, figured out how to declare a major, and have one of the coolest campus jobs ever

Congrats go for it, I sold my older UMB's and did the same. Way better machines for cheaper except the 2.53 which costa slight bit more then the older 2.4.

Not sure what you mean, the US price for 2.4 was 1600$ and now for 2.53 its 1500$

OP, I think it's worth it. I would have done the same thing, right down to the classic ipod. I already have an iPod Touch. I'm happy for you. I'm happy for anyone that gets what they want. I don't see the problem with wanting to talk about it in a potentially cool social network.

Enjoy living in freshman dorms next year! You win!

Don't get too wild over there, these brash purchases certainly aren't a good start!

Sweet... so it looks like I made a great deal out of this haha :)

Yeah! Great choice and congratulations. I'm buying a MBP 13-inch the week after next too.

Also, I've heard that the iSight camera on the new MBP 13-inch is superior to the previous MB 13-inch model.

Keep it, sell it, either choice can be defended, and it's your money. Glad you're happy with your mini MBP.

On my local CL, I've noticed a rash of unibodies for sale at $1k or less, almost exclusively the 2.0 model. If you got anything less for it than what you did, it may have been a better choice to keep your old one.

Anyway, congrats!

Thanks. I will gladly enjoy living with my friends this upcoming school year. Considering the dorm is completely new.
