I'm looking to buy a Dell 2005fpw in a month or so...but what's the trick to getting them cheap? Everyone says how you can get them for right around $400, so what's the trick? Thanks

I just went to Dell's website and they had a a sale deal going so with shipping and all it was about $420. If you just type into google Dell coupons 2005fpw you might get some extra coupons that pop up, but a lot of the ones i found were expired.

I got mine for about $400 from Dell Small Business during a quarterly sale.
It's a very good monitor in a number of ways, but having said that, it does have one potential major defect that I know of: the backlight can leak fairly badly. This was a known problem in earlier versions of this monitor, and has supposedly been fixed. Mine however, does have fairly annoying light leaks at all four corners (and was bought fairly recently). It's not a problem when I use it for Web surfing or editing music in Logic (in fact, it's great for that), but if you want to watch a movie on it, or edit photos, the light leaks can prove troublesome (very annoying in a dark movie). I almost sent mine back.
Yes, it does have the same PANEL as the Apple Cinema, but it doesn't have the same backlight. Caveat emptor

I heard 2005fpw has lots of issues. The new model 2007 is said to be much better than 2005 although technical specifications are not quite good, but it uses different panel.

I've heard almost nothing but praise for that model. In fact, I just bought one myself after the 2007's were announced and I couldn't be happier with it. I know slickdeals.net has/had them listed for ~$365.
I'll chime in too and say that I've got no problems w/my 2005FPW and my 2001FP. They come w/3 year warranties.

Two replacements later I'm pretty satisfied. The first LCD had severe backlight issues, the second had some backlight problems and a few dead pixels but thankfully the third is perfect. 😀
But yeah, you can usually catch the 2005FPWs at around $363 every two to three weeks on dealmein.
