I’ve just bought this one off Amazon last night:

We already had a 50” LG from 2014 which is now being moved into my office so thought we’d replace the one in the lounge. It was only £449 too and the UHD is plenty good enough for us. It’s mad to think I paid £1999 for a 32” Samsung LCD TV back in 2006 and these days you can pick up a brilliant TV for less than £500.

£449? Wow - that blows my mind! Nicely done, sir.

Here's remote I was talking about while I generally don't use a TV remote because of the age of my Tvs, I think with the built in apps, we'd be more willing too, and in all honesty I'm not liking what I see. No way to easily type in numbers and what not.

I have had the Samsung 49'' QLED 80T for about a month. Excellent tv, some minor issues but no show stoppers. One thing I really appreciate is what the chipset does for sports (Outstanding) and old black and whites (ala TBN) again, OUTSTANDING. Negs: the OS apps and remote SUCK. But, use my universal and (sucky) Apple TV remote much of the time so no big deal. Like someone else said, the chipset is very important but the OS/added software apps are to be ignored. Had previous experience with Samsungs and bought because it was highly rated for 'out of the box' picture quality, which is excellent! I've barely touched any of the internal controls for adjustments! Also, very bright picture in any lighting. Again, no needs for calibration or 'scientific style ' adjusting.

For the record, both Vizo and TCL makes very good-to-incredible
When I started this ball rolling (and admittedly I've not done a ton of research), I was surprised at how well TCL was being reviewed, by sites and owners. Still, I wanted to go with a known manufacturer that I was comfortable with.

Jumping on the band wagon , best Sony LED anyone say 50-55 ? not sure i want to go OLED yet
MY unofficial and unscientific opinion is that Sony makes a great TV, but you're paying for the name. There are many Tvs out there that get you more features for less.

FWIW, we're skipping OLED on the soon-to-be replacement set for main TV room, not cost related,
I wasn't even considering OLED, mostly for the cost. I am by definition, a entry-level bargin priced customer for Tvs. I did not want to spend 1,000, hell even 600 was too much. That pretty much took OLED off the list. I'd rather get a decent LED TV that had nice features then the cheapest OLED from a non-name brand.

As for my initial review, after owning this TV now for few days, here's what I think.
First, I'm surprised that I needed to play with the picture settings as much as I, my other Tvs had no such requirement. In hindsight the 55" would have been a better fit, not just because of cost, but I think we're somewhat close to the TV and a 55" would have been better in that situation. Its not buyers remorse as much as realization that you don't need to always get the largest TV. Its a done deal, and I am enjoying it, so it is, what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I may look for a better HDMI cable, just be sure there's no issues with that, I think I just grabbed one that was lying around, not even sure I used the supplied HDMI.

Picture quality of the LG is excellent, provided smart features is top notch, its fairly easy to navigate and select the options you want, i.e., netflix, or Disney+, etc.

I'm disappointed in my cable provider (comcast). After googling and then calling, I was told I needed a 4k capable cable box. I was able to swap it out easy enough, but then after getting that up and running I find out Comcast doesn't really broadcast in 4k, with the exception of a few live sports.

It took me quite a while to get the picture quality to look nice on comcast, since its not broadcasting at 4k, but I found a nice balance. One odd thing is everywhere I read, I was told to turn sharpening off completely but when I did, images specifically faces, looked smudgey. I have some sharpening on and I'm now content.

Yep I agree. OLED is nice but to expensive right now.

I don't do cable or stream though.

All content is in 4k plus hdr if available. Some stuff is limited to 1080p though.

TCL is actually a big manufacturer of displays. They make a lot of the displays for other brands.

I’ve set it up now, been putting Christmas decorations up all day so needed something fun to do. Not a fan of the remote with a cursor on it! The TV also has a built in Alexa and i’ll be honest I prefer the menu on our Fire Cube. Nice quality TV though

I wish they still made dumb TVs. I never use the built in ethernet, wireless, or smart features on the tv itself.
