Im waiting till the first of the month then buying the 27" with the 3TB fusion, 4GB 780 and 8gb RAM, may up it to 16 or 32 depending on price difference but I would never scratch 32 I don't think.

Gonna use this iMac to replace my 2011 27" maxed out with 1TB HD and connected to 2 more external HD's and be the central media hub for the house. But mainly to play elder scrolls online at ultra haha

I have a late 2009 iMac with 8 gigs of ram that I just recently put a 128 GB SSD in. It runs great for what I do on it with applications including Office 2011, CS 5.5 (Photoshop and Dreamweaver) and a Windows 7 Fusion VM. Google Chrome started to bog things down a bit, but now that I'm using Opera everything is speedy again.

Right now my plans are to upgrade sometime in 2015 to a retina display iMac if they are available by then.

Has anyone been able to add a 4K display to their iMac? I have a Dell 28" 4K LCD at work that I may want to bring home at some point.

Same position

I'm in the same position as the thread starter, highly considering buying an 27" iMac. (Will be my first apple computer)

I can't decide if the fusion drives are worth the price tag?

Also where can you buy photoshop from for the Mac?

So by the looks of the comments people aren't convinced a retina version is going to come out late this year?

Hey Ash1321.

I am pretty sure it is available in app store. And abort the fusion, I am glimt with the flash storage for the long run and if you're in need of extra space buy a extern harddrive with USB 3 of thunderbolt. Just My opinion.

Cheers for replying

Ah okay fair enough (photoshop) anyone know a price?

Although flash storage is fairly expensive, with a external it should be about the same as fusion, why is flash so good? (I have heard great things about it)

Also can it just be USB 3.0 or is it better to be thunderbolt aswell?

Yes it is expensive if you're calculating on the size of it. In my case I'll go for the fastest and that would be the flash storage, you might not experience any performance differences now, unless you're working with heavy documents/files, but later on you might feel a difference.

Seems like it isn't relevant regarding to USB 3.0 vs. Thunderbolt. (Keep in mind I 'm only looking at test results, haven't worked with it on my own.)

I have the iMac 27 (late 2013) model i5 3.4ghz 16GB

the fan is running constantly at 1200 rpm and you can hear the fan noise and airflow which is annoying!

having serious issues with OS windows 7 via bootcamp while playing gaming

my iMac 27 late 2013 has no hardware issues done a test!
The fan noise becomes very loud and the iMac get very hot which is quite scary!

Going to download

SSD Fan Control for Mac and Macs fan control for windows 7

Not sure if that will help

also playing games like Batman Arkham Origins PC under bootcamp windows 7 64bit is great
but within 10 mins the the fan noise is very bad! and the iMac gets very hot at the back!

the game is on med settings!

i thought the graphics card would cope
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB

apple tech help are useless they don't have a clue! they say take it to the store for a check up

plus the sound is very thin on this iMac than the 2011 model

only brought this iMac last month

I was pretty worried because it was so fun it may be loud and/or get hot fast but when I looked at reviews and comments, EVERYONE praised it and was pleasantly surprised, that's the first time I've seen someone say what I feared might happen, is it maybe because your trying to run windows too? (The mac should still EASILY cope though)

Anyone has this issue (With late 2013 model)?

No download nvidia experience for the right drivers for the graphic card :)

no when I first installed window 7 64 via bootcamp, it says you need a USB stick
to install the drivers etc....which I did plus i have the nvidia control panel in windows

if I did not have drivers not sure if the game would had worked well

:(

another issue on this model is

for 6 times now my iMac starts up soon as you press the AC power button from the mains
without pressing the iMac power on which is very odd!:(

So if imacs get minor spec bump will there be any changes in the GPU and what could we expect?

I'd say the GeForce GTX 800M series along with the latest Haswell refresh. Possibly TB 2 and different SSD options.

You are wrong. You do not need the Nvidia control panel. Throw that away!! The drivers from bootcamp is only to display light, volume up/down on the keyboard.

Download the nvidia experience and you have the lastest drivers so you gpu will perform max

I'm already updated with the latest drivers etc.....I checked status

its just the fan noise issue playing Batman Arkham origins via bootcamp :(

how can you expect your iMac to be quiet when you play an intensive game??

 well the fan noise shouldn't take the sound of the gameplay?

i didn't have this issue with the mid 2011 iMac 27

the new graphics card should on the new 2013 iMac don't you think?

Precisely my plan, too. But to replace a 2008 MacBook Pro.
