Oops you are right, it is Delaware isn't it? I'm pretty sure one of those states doesn't have any sales tax. Also, I think Oregon doesn't either.

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon do not have state sales taxes.

What are the implications of a buying a macbook with another persons student card. So like if i buy a macbook with my friends student card (because i am not student:D ). will i get waranty etc.

I don't see any problem. Look at it this way: the student is buying it and imediately gives/sells it to a friend. The warranty is on the hardware, not the buyer.

I bought my pbook in Oregon with student rebate. And later my MBP, also in OR with a friends student status. In the Apple store, it was pretty obvious that I was the real buyer, but the employee didn't seem to mind. He helped us with copying papers for rebates etc. Of course my friend will put his name on the rebate forms etc. Nano rebate :D

I seriously consider taxes robbery. The OR sales tax policy is nice. In Denmark the VAT is 25%!

BTW I am still a student.

Wow, I'm moving to Montana...No sales tax and no speed limit, that kicks *ss. Too bad there is nothing there :(

They have speed limits on all roads now...as of 1999. It stemmed from a lawsuit brought by a guy who had been convicted of speeding challenging the "reasonable and prudent" definition.

Montana is beautiful country...great skiing, hiking, etc.

the store ppl can't refuse to sell you just because you and your friend has lost your dignity.

This is a moral question. No reason to bring religion into it....

Funny, thought you had to die to go to hell. (unless you get married, of course)

lol... isn't religion closely related to moral in many senses?
plus, i wasn't bringing in religion, is "hell" exclusively associated to that?

Only those who can't be moral without the threat of hell to compel them, which would completely invalidate any subsequent moral behavior. In other words, there is no morality with religion.

Yes.

[/my own rant... at least it's not about taxes]

Ha...I was just joking but yes many religions do teach morality. Does this mean that one must be religious to be moral though? But enough about religion it just gets people all up in arms...

They're having problems with people buying stuff on EDU discounts when they shouldn't be.....I'm in high school and apple store people have told me that i'm eligible for the EDU discount but then I bought my iMac, the guy wouldn't give it to me because it's only for higher education students and I've noticed that they've redone the EDU redirect on apple.com/store to better show who's eligible.

But I've just bought stuff under my sister's name. It was worth the $100. I try and do this for more expensive apple purcahes if they have a discount for it, but they don't usually on third party things.

And I bought FCE on the discount and nobody called me.....
