hey folks i am visiting Thailand next month. so i was thinking of buying a macbook pro from there. google just told me that there is no official apple store there. i can purchase one online though but i dont know whether they will ship it to the hotel or not. so from where should i purchase a macbook pro from thailand? i will be going to Bangkok and Phuket. the other thing i would like to know is that does it come with the international warranty? what if something goes wrong with it? can i get it fixed from other places than thailand? Looking forward for the replies. thanks!
If you go to Phuket you might hop over to Malaysia, it's cheaper there. Langkawi isn't far away with a ferry, but I am not aware of having an Apple outlet there. If, and only if you have a stopover in Hong Kong that would be a good choice as well, I don't know from where you fly though. I'm pretty sure they will ship to Hotel, AFAIK they use couriers so an autograph is needed. There must be Apple stores there, not the official ones but normal ones, and as far as I know warranty is international. Example: Macbook Pro 13" Base Model Thailand 1,274.37*USD Hong Kong 1,184.46*USD Malasia 1,190.54*USD
Firstly i would like to tell you that in Thailand also have Macintosh Center here is address Even i lived in thailand but i also purchase my new mac stuff from Online Apple store anyway. But if you wanna buy macbook pro with retina in thailand you can buy it in any branches of iStudio in Thailand. And yes it comes with international warranty.
whats macintosh centre? they arent the official apple store. and i just want to buy a simple macbook pro. i dont think i need retina macbook. and if the warranty is international i assume i will be able to claim the warranty anywhere in the world. if i buy from Online Apple store will they refund me the VAT on the airport? ---------- thanks for your help. but i am flying through Thai Airways and i wont be able to go to Malaysia and HongKong.
Macintosh Center is authorize service provide in Thailand. And here is the link of authorize service provider in Bangkok. https://locate.apple.com/th/en/service/?pt=4&lat=13.7522222&lon=100.4938889 Not sure about the vat refund. Hope it helps.
This might help: http://www.apple.com/asia/ipad/buy/resellers-th.html The Mac centre the Poster above mentioned is a service centre, nothing more.
Official shops endorsed by Apple Thailand are the iStudio chains at major shopping malls. You would want to buy from malls in Siam Square and Ratchaprasong areas in downtown Bangkok. Tourists get 7% tax refund vouchers which you can claim at the airport once you leave the country. Make sure you get the tax refund voucher from the shop. Whatever prices that you see, add 7% extra tax discount into them.
I just inform you in case when you have a problem with ur stuff. You can buy it from iStudio or iBeat if you don't want to buy it from online store. There are many branches in Bangkok. http://www.istudio.in.th/mainpage/index.php
okie that was a great help. can you tell me the difference between the Thai and English keyboard. will they be having English keyboard Macbook pro's in stock? ---------- okie dokie thanks. i am checking out the website ---------- if i buy online will they deliver it to the Hotel? and will i be getting VAT refund if bought online? thanks
Thai and English keyboards are both American QWERTY. The Thai version just has the Thai alphabets printed on the keys. You can request for a pure English machine. Siam Square and Ratchaprasong areas are major tourist attractions; they would definitely have pure English in stock. You cannot get tax refund from the online store because they ship from abroad. But yes they should deliver to your hotel. In general stuff from Apple online stores arrive next day or the second day after an order via DHL courier.
You should buy from iStudio shops, as Ratchakrit mentioned. They look very similar to Apple Store in other countries. They are located at most shopping malls. I just came back from the iStudio shop at Central World Plaza in Ratchaprasong 15 minutes ago. Just got a micro USB to Lightning converter for my iPhone 5. Ping me here if you need help. I am an IT manager at work and I am a native Bangkokian
okay thats great. so iStudio it is. i will be getting the English Keyboard version of Macbook Pro. thanks for your help. will surely ping you if i need more help. really appreciated that. thanks
If you mean 2-3 months is near future, don't think so, probably late summer- autumn, depends all on Intel's Haswell. Oh, and weren't they just updated. Edit: No, not the non retinas.
yeah retina is updated. but i am going to buy the other one. Apple updates the meacbooks in march. i hope they update them
