Wow good point, I just did some research and I found out it is very likely Apple will release a budget 8GB iPhone 4 for roughly $400 new. I am going to wait it out now :D.

How and where did you got that 400 from? It would be very nice at 400 but look at the 3gs apple is STILL sale them for 549!

That's actually not true. I'm a Top Seller on eBay, I get flakes all the time. You have to wait 8 days on eBay. You wait 4 days to send them an email from eBay (and thus open a case), then once that email is sent, they have 4 more days to pay. If they don't pay after those 8 days, eBay will refund your fees. So, no the seller doesn't have to pay. It still sucks though.

Strange because I lost my selling fees when a buyer didn't pay. The buyer still does enter into a contract to buy the device nonetheless.

Great. So know you are going to dishonor your winning bid?

I don't know why you're getting voted down, you're completely right. This poster really isn't striking me as an honest person for a variety of reasons, whether it's worrying more about whether anyone can catch him for buying a stolen phone instead of the fact that the poster would be knowingly buying stolen merchandise to winning an ebay auction and then reneging on the deal.

My advice? Buy an iPhone when $30 isn't a very significant amount to spend to ensure you're buying something legitimate. This could be accomplished two ways: get/save more money and get better morals.

I'll go ahead and step off my high horse now.

Don't buy anything that cheap from craiglist.
The risk is not worth it.

A few months ago, I really wanted to get an iphone 3GS or 4. I messaged several sellers at craiglist for around the price you found that iphone.
I even ended up doing a meetup with one of the sellers that seem very legit.
He mentioned that we will do it in the AT&T store to make it seem safe. He was going to buy the iphone 4 through his upgrade for 200$ and sell to me for 450.

But when I got there, I was cautious. He couldn't get the phone because of some documents and he said lets meet up in a few hours again here.

At that point I already knew it was suspicious so I waited at the corner of the block and observed. He ended up bringing 4 of his other friends. 2 camped outside the store, 1 inside and they were acting like they don't know each other. They were just standing there.

So at that point I just got out of there because I was not about to risk my money.

A huge portion of sellers/buyers on craiglist are scammers because its not really heavily regulated. There is no feedback or anything.
So I would avoid craiglist.
