Would this be a good deal?

2014 21-inch iMac 2.7GHZ, i5, 1TB HD for $500 CDN (or $379US).

Seller says “rarely used Excellent condition”

My 2011 bit the bullet - I mainly do photo editing as a hobby and light home videos of my kids.

Enticing!

I like to think about it like this: if everything goes well and you keep it for 7 years after release like your 2011 it'll have cost you $500 for 3 years or $166 per year. If you look at the refurb store right now you can get a 2017 for $1,179 (https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/produ...d-215-inch-iMac-23GHz-dual-core-Intel-Core-i5). It's a year old so it should last you around 6 years so $197 per year.

So a difference of 34$ per year to have a more modern machine, at least for a while. It's up to you to see which one is worth it.

If you buy it, add an external SSD over USB3 to it. It'll be much faster than the HDD inside. Same thing for the refurb I mentioned.
