I’m from the Uk but my partner currently lives in the USA so I travel there every few months. The price rises we’ve received in the Uk and also in Europe are extortionate but I’m thinking of picking up a base iPhone 14 when I’m next in the states as it’ll be significantly cheaper and I’m going to be in the USA anyway so my flight is already budgeted and paid for for. Just wondering if anyone has experience using an American iPhone in the Uk and if mobile data bands and such are ok! also wondering how things like applecare would work as I always get AppleCare plus. Thanks!

It will work. Just don`t forget that the US Modell of the iPhone 14 Lineup is eSIM only. With the US Model you will also get mmWave which is useless outside of the US.

As long long as UK has ESIM option then I don't see why not? Just know that US models does not have sim tray, Only mmWave.

Because of the no sim tray i'm not sure how Applecare Plus works, because not sure if UK will carry the US models as replacements but i don't know.

Good point. I’m not sure how they’d replace my phone if it breaks. I’ve never even turned on sub 6 5g so I’ll have no use for mmwave.

Honestly TechLord I would just buy one from Amazon UK, as it would probably work out the same than the US if they do their usual £50 price drop. I was in NYC 2 weeks ago looking to buy a 13 mini, but you have to buy with carrier activation most places that I saw including Best Buy. It’s worth it for MacBooks though, they get big discounts in the US. Good luck though, but bare in mind they won’t have a sim tray.

Apple decision to sell only ESIM capable iPhones in the US is a really bad one. Please remember many people travel overseas and use foreign sims for the duration of their travel. This will no longer be possible for a US sourced phone.

The only other country I visit other than Britain/USA is another European one with decent e sim support so that alone isn’t a deal breaker. Being possibly unable to use applecare plus is a dealbreaker however.

Yeah it seems trade ins via carrier are the way there rather than cash purchases for unlocked phones (how I do things) my girlfriend managed to trade in her iPhone 7 for over 700 dollars when the 12 came out which was pretty insane.

I will keep an eye out on any Amazon discounts, but if there is none I may just hold out for the rumoured SE 4 which is meant to be based off the XR.
