well if you don't need the ibook right away I would say wait. rumors are still rumors until they are proven true. there have been talk of updates for months now, believe I know.

if you can

if you can cancel without charges then YES cancel... even a small upgrade is an upgrade.... but wait till monday at least and then see when they ship
if they ship fast then get the update.... if they dont then go through macmall.com or something like that and get like a free carrying case, printer and 512mb of ram..... thats my advice... but wait till monday no matter what you do

Keeping the MAc !

I am going to keep the mac !
I prob wont notice the speed in the Proc Speed !
Plus it is alot of trouble !

Thanks for the INFO !

I have that same iBook, and it's a great machine. Runs every app I have just fine and it's really quiet. I've only had the fan come on once, and that was after a lot off processor-intensive tasks. Even that wasn't excessively loud. I used to have a 14 inch G3 PowerBook and had feared that the 12 inch screen would be too small, but now that I actually use it I would never go back. I love the compact size and all the power it fits into it. Right now is a good time because there is a lesser difference between the 12 inch PowerBook and the iBook than there should be. This is a lot of bang for your buck.

Hey Guys should I cancel my order for my iBook ?

Will the updates be that big ?

I'd cancel personally.

Updates will probably be relatively small, but wouldn't you rather have updates?

If you don't cancel you'd probably get some sort of price protection cash back.

reguardless of how small the update is, or may be... I'd cancel it. At the very least- you'd be able to get the same iBook you ordered today for a lot less.
Not to mention- reguardless if it's a big or small update- it's still an update...and if there is one- the second it happens, your 1 week old iBook is suddenly a used year older. If you never plan to sell it to upgrade in the future, that's fine... but if you do, that's another consideration.

Before I cancelled though, I'd check the estimated shipping time... you may be lucky enough to get it upgraded for free :)
(again, this is all assuming the updates actually come this time....)

NO ,
I dont plan on selling this Laptop ! That is why I am not to crazy about the updates ! This laptop will do everyting that I want it to do and that is all I care about !
If I were going to upgrade in the future it would be a diffrent story ,
and when it gets a couple years old I will give it to my Sister.
This laptop fit perfectly into my budget for a computer. I also got a student disscount ! I am not the one to have everyting the BEST !

In then end then, that's all that matters...and for that matter... I'm jealous of you (I want a laptop!).
In the meantime though, I'd be curious to know your shipping times...and if they're bumped around at all.
Apple has been known to upgrade systems for people that ordered right before an update....and if your arrival date is after Monday... I'd expect them to. (again, assuming they do actually update on Mon/Tues)

Are the 12" iBook quiet? I couldent really tell at the apple store cuz of all of the talking and stuff !

I have found the 12" iBook to be quiet except for one thing, the combo drive. Compared to a superdrive, the combo drive is loud in my opinion.
