I'm finally upgrading my 1.33 17" powerbook and ive made up my mind
    on getting an iMac.

I think the 24" screen might be to huge for me and think the 20" might be the better size... but im concerned about the quality of the 20" screen.

I do a lot of recording and use Logic, Pro Tools etc... but i also make webpages with flash as a hobby. i dont work professional with graphics
but i do find myself working with photoshop and flash a lot.

Ive heard the 24" is better quality and the 20" is far less quality...
    so i need some help

I just bought a 20" iMac for work purposes - would have loved a 24" but didn't have the desk space available (two other computers on that desk alone and another 5 on a desk behind me.... lol). Anyhow, I have to say that I'm very pleased indeed with the screen - the image quality is excellent and other than a slightly narrower viewing angle than the 24", I can't really find much to criticise.

Thank you. That has been my main concern about buying the 20". I too have a space issue but was worried with all that I have read about the significant difference in quality(not just size) between the 20" and the 24".

My good friend is a photographer, he just got the 20' the quality is amazing, the screen is huge, because the Mac OSX GUI is so sleek and simple, plus with spaces for leopard you will not need that extra 4' of space, I reccomend saving your money and going with 20'....

i had the same question......20 or 24, I decided to go with the 20 due to disc space since 24 was just to large....

If you can manage the cost of the 24" screen then absolutely definitely go for it.

When I was trying to choose I really felt I didn't want or need a 24" screen, but a few people advised me that it wasn't just about the size, the quality was superior too.

Now that I have the 24" I can't imagine life without it :) It's stunning, and even after only a few days I'm used to it, it doesn't seem ridiculously enormous any more!

Honestly, go for it if you can, you'll be thrilled.

I also bought a 20 inch partially because of space issues. So far, no problems.
