The refurb iMacs on the UK website typically sell at a 18% discount.

I'd buy one of these, with a 500GB hardrive and 1 GB RAM then upgrade to the max from Crucial.

But I'm waiting till 2009......

apple's refurbs are still refurbs, I would never recommend a refurb unless you have severe $$$ problem.

wow, seriously. just been over to pc world and that 24" is ridculously big. i really think that is too big, at least for what i will be doing such as general working/leisure etc.

i can't see the benefits of having such a big screen except the fact its huge and perhaps watching videos and stuff on it. i seriously dont think i could even get used to working on somehing so huge.

the 20" looked perfect and would feel great in my room. i think ive made my decision.

cheers all.

i really wouldn't recommend the wireless mighty mouse, really a waste of $20 bucks, the mighty mouse blows. You actually can't use the right click if your hand is even touching the left click.

I would recommend looking into logitech's mice, I myself have the MX Revolution, IMO the best mouse ever built.

...and behold the amusing rumour on MacRumors front page.

Even if you don't need the new features, the current model prices will drop by a significant figure to clear them...

i don't know if you checked the frontpage here, but the new imac is FINALLY coming the following week! why not wait a few more days and the get the latest (best at the time) for the same money??

i dont ****ing beleive this.

i placed the order yesterday. is there anything i can do or what?

bump

so guys, now that ive got 2gb ram by default, would it be worth buying another 2gb from crucial? i suppose what i mean is, will it work like the 2x2gb ram does (a friend mentioned something about dual channeling)?

I'm all for maxing out the ram, but since it ships with a 1gig chip, I would get 2x2 gigs 3rd party (matched pairs), and remove the one that came with it. You could easily sell the 1 gig factory ram.

Check out the ram buying guide for more information on purchasing 3rd party ram. Made double sure the ram you order is correct for your version of iMac (800mhz DDR2 SDRAM). Since they just updated them, some that claim compatibility may be intended for the older versions. Good luck to you.

for photo editing you must get the 24". I'm no photo editor and my eyes are not super attuned to colours but in the store, the colour shift was extremely obvious on the 20". If you go and take a coffee break and sit back down, your photo may look different. correct me if im wrong but $200 for 4 gb of 800 mhz laptop memory that the imac uses isnt a bad deal is it? I've looked everywhere and only found similarly priced 667 mhz ram.
