Best buy currently has 150 off the X 256 on Verizon. (If you purchase on installments) How does the 150 off work? I walked through part of the checkout process and it shows the 150 as a down payment. (From BB)

Is that amount vested day one? I'm curious how that works if I payoff early.

Thanks!

It looks like, its using the 150 as a down payment so you're paying the full price (which is important for sales tax), but BB is providing a "down payment". Your loan is then based on the net price.

Did you see anything that looks like you lose the 150 if you payoff the installment plan the following month? I didn't, but didn't want to be surprised and lose that discount.

I'd ask them, but they're still closed and figured someone here has probably purchased a discounted one and may know for sure.

I didn't look, I just went off your post. Of the installment plans I'm aware of, if you pay it off early, you lose the discount. I'd definitely read the small print on the agreement. I'd not trust what BB says verbally, but rather what's written.

Yep, my experience is you lose it as well, but those were all on monthly discounts versus up front.

Good advice. Thanks!

I don't know if you have gone yet, however I have done this. When you get to the part to sign the contract/installment agreement you will notice the $150 taken off so you are only financing the $999. I did the same thing you did with best buy and you WILL NOT lose the $150. Since it isn't applied to your payments and taken off the top you only are financing the $999. I waited a couple of months and paid off my x last month. They had a promotion like this in Dec/early Jan I think.

That’s awesome, thank you. I bought earlier and noticed the contract so no prepayment penalty. But, reading this is even further confirmation that all is well.

Thanks!
