    Hi,
I am going to Europe in the beginning of 2009 and I really want to buy an iPhone unlocked and without contract. I know I will pay much more, but here in Brazil the iPhone's price is really high. Well, probably it will be the same price but at least I don't need to be stuck with a 2-years contract.

I was reading that I can buy one in Italy without contract, but I didn't find any information about it on TIM's website.

So, do you know which countries I can buy an iPhone without contract from?

    Thank you,
    Guillermo

I know that you can get it here in Australia outright for a total of about $800AU.

Italy, both Vodafone and TIM sell them, simunlocked even with a contract.
Without a contract you'd have to pay 499€ for the 8Gig and 569€ for the 16Gig

I believe someone told me switzerland. The price was not bad at around 400 Euro. Look into this!

    complete list

The German apfeltalk forum has a complete list and a FAQ. It's all in German though. However, the countries and prices are probably self explanatory.

The link for the faq is:
    http://www.apfeltalk.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=38681&d=1227100290

The list for iPhone without netlock are as follows (8/16 GB)

    Belgien (Mobistar) 525 € 615 €
    Deutschland (Vodafone) 699 € 799 €
    Frankreich (Orange) 609 € 709 €
    Griechenland (Vodafone) temporarily not available
    Italien (TIM, Vodafone) 499 € 569 €
    Schweiz (Orange) 999 SFr (ca. 660 €) 1199 SFr (ca. 800 €)
    Slowakei (Orange) 15.990 Sk (ca. 525 €) 18.990 Sk (ca. 625 €)
    Tschechien (O2) 11.995 Kč (ca. 485 €) 14.095 Kč (ca. 570 €)
    Tschechien (Vodafone) 11.977 Kč (ca. 485 €) 13.977 Kč (ca. 570 €)
    Tschechien (T-Mobile) 14.999 Kč (ca. 610 €)
    Türkei (Vodafone, Turkcell) 645 € 758 €

As always there are still certain conditions, so please read the faq or have it translated.

yes, both carriers, they will also give you a SIM and you will have to probably activate the phone at home on your own.
Right now, I believe any store selling cellphones has both, 8Gb and 16Gb, versions
