Buying an XDR in retail stores

Hello

Has anyone been able to buy an XDR display in a retail store? There are several stores that have them in stock in my city, but the store folks claim they cannot sell them and I have to order online? (Apparently a memo was sent last week prohibiting sale?)

Does anyone know what magic words need to be said to allow them to sell one from inventory?

Has anyone successfully ordered using online for pick up? If so when?

The local stores here show all out of stock online despite them having a few in the stock room (i know from having a retail guy check their iPhone app and then going back to verify)...

Hmmm in the berlin store they told me today even though they have them on display, they won’t sell them locally.

The online system shows it as out of stock at the same time it is in the stock room in low quantities (<3).

I reckon few stores at all are ever going to stock these.

Yes, and the store told you that you need to order an XDR.
After you ordered, you should get a response that will give you an estimate of how long it will take to get an XDR. Could be something like "In stock, you can pick up at your local store by 8PM today", or "backordered: Estimate 4-6 weeks". Or, something in-between.
If you want one, order one. You'll get it then.

I was able to purchase a XDR Display online for same day instore pickup. However, as I received emails and texts saying it was ready for pickup, the store called me and told me they can't release it until Apple corporate allows them. It's been over a week and I'm still waiting.

I was able to pick it up yesterday finally.
