Buying AppleCare for Third Party bought Macbook

I plan on buying a Macbook Pro 2017 from a third party such as Ebay. I asked was the warranty still active and the owner told me it was so sonce the 1 year warranty is still active can I purchase apple care for the product?

Yes, but if it were me I would ask for the serial number and check it at Apple here, https://checkcoverage.apple.com/

Just make sure it's Apple's warranty that's active. Some sellers provide their own "warranty"

Nope, AppleCare can be bought for up to 1 year after purchase. AppleCare+ only for the (I think) 90 days after purchase, you might be thinking of that.
