I’ll be visiting Vancouver and Seattle at the end of April and I just realised that while I’m there I could buy a new MacBook Air for a considerable discount compared to the price here in Germany. I have a couple of questions though:
  1. As I want to get a 2TB SSD, can custom orders be delivered for pick-up in the Apple Store even if you don’t have a billing address in the same country as the store?
  2. Can I order a Dutch/British/International English keyboard in Canada? I see British as an option in the USA store, but none of those I listed in the Canadian one.
I look forward to seeing what new Macs are announced next week ?

To order online, you need a locally issued payment card.

You can't order a European keyboard in Canada. There are very few Europeans in Canada.

Between your two options, it'll be cheapest to buy in Seattle because of the lower tax rate.

My sister lives in Canada, so I can get a 2TB one there with an American keyboard, and I guess it would also have an American keyboard in Seattle since I couldn’t custom order one there…

Oh well, thanks for answering my questions, I’m all of a sudden in rush anyway, so will most likely get one here in Germany after all.

You can get a non-US keyboard in the US. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to get one in Canada. Customized with 2 TB and a British keyboard I could pick it up on March 23 at an Apple Store if I ordered it today.

If you buy one in Canada, just make sure you don't get the dreaded French keyboard. I'm sure it makes typing in French easier, but I can't stand the tiny half a shift key they put on those things. Almost all cheap laptops in Canada only come with a French keyboard (they call it bilingual) because they're required to offer that in Quebec, so companies tend to sell just one SKU to all of Canada. Thankfully, the more expensive manufacturers (like Apple) sell English or French keyboard in the stores, and allow you to customize online for a few other languages as well.

I am in Canada and these are the options for configuring a keyboard when buying a Mac here. Not sure why the options are limited as compared to the U.S.
