Now that the new Air has been released, I'm in the market for a used, first generation Air. I'm just looking for something portable and yet capable enough, and I don't want to spend $1000 for it. What are the known issues and problems that the first generation Macbook Air has? Loose hinge, overheating, etc?
When I stop laughing, I'll post all the faults and 'nuances' of this machine. By that time I'm sure someone else will post.
The first generation Air was a terrible machine. Even the one prior to the current generation lacks in many ways. I'm curious to see the hands on performance of the newest one. Maybe then will the Air actually be a computer worth considering. Doubtful, but you never know. Maybe I'll finally find a device to dethrone my little 12" G4 as my couch machine.
Haha, I know. I took it into the Apple store today to get some photos of it side by side with the 11.6" Air but they didn't have any! The look on the guys face when I walked in with a 12" PB was priceless.
I think the 12" PB's are gorgeous. It's the only PB I didn't get. I have the 15 & 17, and was waiting (back then) for to update the 12", but they dropped it all together :-(
The Rev C is worth considering. If 2GB RAM works for you - its worth picking up a refurb or 2nd hand at a good price
Rev A is absolutely terrible, my father got his as a gift. It was his first Mac, he likes it, but terribly, terribly slow. He is now looking forward to the new 11" mba.
