I don't think its worth it to buy an unlimited account from another user for hundreds of dollars. Not only is it complicated to transfer, but AT&T could cap or end those old unlimited plans at any time. They did with the unlimited iPhone plans and I expect they will eventually do it for the iPad plans as well -- especially if they add the hotspot feature Verizon now has.

What do you mean they capped it? I just checked my AT&T bill online and I'm still on the iPhone unlimited plan.

Capped = throttled in this case. once you reach a certain limit (I'm pretty sure it's 3gb), they will throttle your bandwidth data (slow it down dramatically) on all AT&T unlimited data iPhones

Jlee, I'm doing it in steps. first, I will buy the iPad2 with the unl plan.
and soon, buy the 3 model I want and transfering it to that.
if the deal works out.

Oh ok, you will be good to go. Just change the personal info and billing info. Once you get the iPad 3, it will be very easy to transfer.

I would bet that, like with the unlimited iPhone plan, when/if ATT supports the Hotspot functionality it won't work with the unlimited plan.

Why not? I have an unlimited plan on my phone through Verizon and pay for unlimited tethering. Why would ATT be any different?

The expense of possibly people replacing their ISP with their phone. It could be dozens of gigabytes in a month with a real computer using the data.

So when ATT started offering official tethering a year or 2 ago for the iPhone, it was only available as a $20 add-on to the 2GB plan (with an additional 2GB provided). You couldn't choose the tethering plan with the unlimited plan.

So I bet it is the same thing with the iPad.
