Whats your thoughts, be greatful for any advice.

Open the box before your flight back so you won't have any import duty applied to it. The UK Apple Stores will not honour the standard warranty.

Thats what I was wondering about the warranty :(

It will work ok over here, you will just need to get a plug adaptor for the charger.

Most Apple gear has an international warranty so it should be covered. My parents bought iPods back from the USA for me and my brother and his was DOA.

The Bullring Apple Store in Birmingham changed it without any hassle.

Really? Need to look into this then because will save me alot of money, didnt fancy getting it without the warrenty though.

Charging socket will be differant too..

Seems like a no brainer if I save over £300.00

I thought all electrical goods from the big brands had worldwide applicable warranties ? My USA vita was repaired for free at the local Bristol UK sony shop

Yes they will. Apple warranty is worldwide....and I know this because I used to deal with the exact same issues when I worked for Apple.

Seems people have different views on this. Might have to stick with buying it in the UK

I think the worldwide warranty depends on product.

..I'd definitely buy it in the US if I could wait an extra month until I'm there - nope.

$949 plus tax remember. Apple u.s store prices do not show tax.

iPhones and cellular iPads do not have an international warranty. Everything else Apple sells does.

Sales tax in Orlando is 6.5%.

That probably explains it then (and it was a friend's purchase not mine directly)

Yes they do.

They do not. Quoted from apples warranty information...

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

They key phrase in there is *may* restrict.

I've had a US purchased iPad & iPhone both replaced under Applecare/Applecare + respectively in my local Apple Store in the UK.

Was planning on doing this too as I'm in Vegas May 11th. Will I be able to preorder for then and pickup in Store?

I thought if you buy applecare it was covered internationally? At first it was just on macs but I thought they extended it to iPhone's as well.

I've done this with many iPads and apple products, you save loads of money and the warranty DOES carry over. Enjoy!
