Buying in America for UK...

I had Applecare + on my iPad 3 that I purchased while I was working in New York, had it replaced under the 1st year's warranty no issues.

My phone didn't have AC+, but was still replaced under the year's warranty in the UK.

I can't find it now, but there's an Apple document somewhere that basically says "mobile" devices have international warranty (so iPhones, iPads, laptops & iPods) are covered internationally.
 
The charger is a standard usb charger like to your iPhone. So you can just buy an iPhone adapter (or a knock-off), and put the USB from the watch in. So that is pretty easy

I'm not sure on the warranty. iPhone and iPad doesn't have worldwide warranty. But if you buy in Europe, you will have warranty everywhere in Europe.
Something like the iPod has worldwide warranty. But I don't know which warranty the watch will get.

Well pointed out. I didnt take tax into account.

Still works out cheaper. Just need to get my facts correct how the warranty works on the Watch as it seems to be differant on certain apple products.

How do you know this? Great news if true, I can use my existing battery packs if need be.

I remember when the original iPhone was released about seven or eight years ago Apple made a point about it not having an international warranty and even had notices to that fact in their stores. As far as I'm aware that did change at some point as logically that is a ridiculous policy considering these are portable devices. Just imagine if someone is on business overseas and there is a problem with their iPhone or iPad and it's crucial to their business and Apple was not prepared to sort it out in warranty or out of warranty at a cost in that country there would be an outrage.

The cellular devices often operate on different frequencies, so for example a UK Apple Store couldn't give you a replacement UK iPhone if your US iPhone had failed when you were visiting the country.

I'm not sure if it has now changed and the stores now keep a small number of replacements in stock for foreign visitors or whether they can arrange delivery from head office in a few days?

Yes I am aware of that. However if it's a software issue, if the OS needs to be reinstalled or the device restored this can all be done by a tech at the Genius Bar. If it's something minor that can be repaired it's possible they could do that. I agree what they can do is limited although as the :apple:Watch does not use cellular technology this shouldn't be an issue with that. Not everyone is tech savvy out there and there are instances when someone has to make an appointment at the Genius Bar even for a minor thing that could be resolved by the user. I've seen it on several occasions with other people at the Genius Bar.

I wanted the SS space blank link but £950 was too much.. it works out around £700 if he was bringing it for me!

We don't have a model equivalent to the Verizon model in the UK, but that aside, aren't the UK & US phones identical?
 
Quick question;

Does paypal convert to GBP?

So if i was to buy the watch via my credit card, they'd charge me a 2.75% fee.. as far as I'm aware paypal converts to GBP at checkout?

Usually you can choose to either pay in original currency (USD) with your bank's exchange rate, or choose GBP at PayPal' exchange rate.

Now that the former Sprint model is available unlocked, yes, you can now get the same iPhone 6 in the US that is sold in Europe. However, that's a recent development. As recently as the iPhone 5 each carrier had its own version in the US (except for T-Mobile and AT&T, which had the same model).

If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide.

An iPhone, iPad, iPod and MacBooks can all operate without a power cord (thus making them portable), so they get international warranty coverage.

With this caveat...

However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested.

So for example, if someone from the US had a faulty Verizon spec iPhone 5S (which I don't think we have here), they may not be able to get a replacement, but if it was a straight forward repair (battery for example), then they would get warranty repairs outside of the US.

I bought my iPad 2 in US, and couldn't get warranty in Europe. But the Mini 1 I bought in Barcelona had warranty here in Denmark.

I bought my iPad 3 in the US on launch day and had it replaced in the UK under warranty without an issue.

Mine was a wifi model, was yours?

Can't see how they could justify refusing a warranty issue when the devices are under a year old and their own terms say that they have international warranty coverage.

Yep. Wifi only version. However, the iPad 2 was several years ago, so could have changed since back then.
 
This just became a realistic option for me.

I wonder if you can reserve stock in the US from the UK... hmmm.

Not on all devices in all countries. e.g. there are some (verizon iPhones are an example) which can't be serviced outside of the USA.

As the watch has no cellular function, international models should be the same.
