Buying into the Apple ecosystem

I'm quite keen to rejoin the Apple world.

I wanted to get the MacBook Pro 16" and an iPhone and then later on get two HomePods for music. That would mean cancelling my Spotify accout and then taking on development for MACOS and IOS.

Anything I should know?

Take it slow and make sure that you have tried everything that you want to do before the return period ends. HomePods are sort of a love/hate thing. Some people love them, some hate them. Airplay from your Mac to the HomePods may not work we'll. I can't get it to work reliably in Mohave, but does work well with my iPhone.

I wouldn't cancel your spotify account if that means losing things like playlists. Wait and see whether you like Apple Music. There are a ton of discussions here from people passionate about Apple Music, Spotify, and other music services. Personally I occasionally use Apple Music, but generally can be found in the Tidal or Room sections of the music store.

Prioritize the purchase that will likely stimulate revenue generation: the 16" MacBook Pro.

If you can successfully convert that purchase into a profitable tool, then the other purchases (discretionary expenses) won't require any further discussion.

Whether you really need a 16" MacBook Pro is a separate discussion. You say nothing about your usage case. A Mac mini might be a better choice in terms of price-performance value.

I'm a programmer looking to make games for IOS and macOS. I'd also like to do some music editing in Logic Pro or Cubase.

I'd avoid the HomePod, while the speakers do produce nice sound, its over priced and Siri sucks. There are more robust systems out there for lot less money.
