Ebay + Live search discount

Ah yeah, I was checking eBay just yesterday, just one thing tho: how safe is it? I mean, what if by any chance the seller gives you an identical serial as he did to the previous buyer?

What I'm worried about is, in case they wanted to trick you over eBay and give you the same serial, could your AppleCare possibly get blacklisted? Like, for ex., if you have an antivirus and insert a serial that you found online and in a month it gets blacklisted because too many users have already used it, which the people at that antivirus company have noticed...

Could something like that happen with AppleCare? Or does it work in the way that as soon as you enter your serial, that serial belongs to YOU only, and if sb else from a different IP wants to enter it, it WON'T let him?

That would be a good thing to know in case I go for eBay.... :)

Thanks!

What do you mean by "older Macbook Pro does NOT have a user accessible hard drive"? Does that imply that there is NO Windows-like option of opening, say, a D: hard drive with your data and simply access it? What is used as an alternative then?

He means it is not easy to get at. On the new units and MB, you just pop out the battery, unscrew a metal arm and take out the drive. The older units are quite involved and not for the faint of heart when it comes to HDD replacement. You can check out an article here on the process for older MBP:
