Buying MacBook with student discount and claiming VAT back

Hi all,

I'm currently an apprentice working full time but also attending college, this allowed me to get an NUS card entitling me to 15% discount on the apple educational store. However I've spoken to my company and they have said that if I use the laptop for work they could class it as a work laptop and they could reclaim the VAT. Would it be possible to combine the two discounts or would I only be able to use one?
