Yeah, looks good. I've bought open box from Best Buy with no problems, my camera appeared to be and performed as new.

Wow, somebody is really working overtime again!

Tim needs to give his boy a raise... :)

OP, to answer your question: I think your dad would be fine with the 2015 model. It's more than adequate for his needs; it's not prone to debilitating failures; it has the ports to connect to existing devices; and it's a better "deal". In short, "it just works."

Thank you for the help. I've been researching around and it seems to me like bhvidoes has the best deal for the 2015 macbook pro basic at 1800 out the door. Closest deal would be an "open box" 2015 MBP at best buy for 1730.

I have a question about the 2016 model with regard to the iGPU. I've had 2 that I sent back and both were the 2.6 Ghz w/ 512 GB. I'm considering getting a refurb 2016 if I get the 2.6 Ghz w/ 512 GB again it will cost me $2209 but if I get the 2.7 Ghz w/ 512 GB it will cost me $2379.00 (I know the difference is basically the dGPU, which I won't be using that much since I use the iGPU most of the time) The difference in price is only $170.00. If I opt for the 2.7 Ghz will I see much difference in speed using the iGPU (which is what I'll mostly be using)

I know the 2015 model is not a good reference but I tested the 2015 2.2 Ghz and the 2.5 Ghz and I could immediately tell the 2.5 Ghz was much faster and both had the internal Iris Pro only. But going from 2.2 to 2.5, I could really tell a difference. Will I see this kind of difference on the 2016 from 2.6 to 2.7 using the internal processor only?

According to benchmarks, the 2.7 is about 10% faster.

I knew it couldn't be a whole lot but it might be enough for me to warrant the $170.00 diff over the 2.6 especially if I plan to keep it 3 or 4 yrs. I'm going to order the 2.7 refurb and try it out for the 2 wk period and see if it performs slightly better than the 2.6. I just can't wait till Oct/Nov for the 2017 models and I'm saving 15% ($420.00) in getting a refurb. So I just placed the order. It should arrive next week.
