I have same problem.
I tried some month ago the 13" middle and i loved it.
I hated only the resolution lowest then full hd (i worked with a 16,4" full hd while macbook pro was good only at 1440 o 1680 resolution).

Now i saw the new 15" is more small then old gen but i doubt if i need the quadcore and radeon 450.

I will use adobe photoshop/lightroom and play some little game as diablo 3 or wow (old 6100 worked fine last time). I will use it for traveller.

The 15" i have a bad idea to use it also as main computer and i will kill my actually pc windows 10.. The actually is this... And i use it for rendering videos.

So what is the best choice;?? :
13" touch bar middle (i think will add i7 or 16gb ram if you need) and use it for travel, download photos and fix with lightroom.

15" touch bar base and use for all.. (lightroom, photoshop, rendering and gaming) and i eill connect to monitor dell 2k 27".

can The 15" will have more bench point than my main windows computer?

In your case i would go for the 13" with 16GB RAM or the 15" base model.
The processor upgrade on the 13" model makes no sense. ;)
You won't profit from the little more 0.whatever GHz in real usage.
if you wanna do the stuff that you mentioned, I would go for the 15" base model.
There you get a better GPU for gaming and as well a better screen. :p
If you can afford it go for it. otherwise go for the 13". it will handle your tasks as well.

Thank you.
About benchmarks, i will have a better work if i use 15" touch base model+ monitor dell instead my actually windows pc?

If you're switching systems (like me) you should recognize that the 15" would be faster in things like render times etc.
But of course it depends on your workflow. If you're going for Final Cut Pro, it will speed your work up, for sure.
:)
If you can hang on for some more weeks, I could probably run some tests/benchmarks for you ;)
My Shipping should arrive around the 25 Nov - 5 Dez. :p

Thx .
Send me tests when you will received it.
I bought for Moment the 13"+16gb ram (it will arrived between 7_14dic) because i doubt the 15" will kill my desktop performance
I think also that with 500€ difference between 13" and 15", i Can upgrade my desktop cpu and gpu in the next year .

Your benchmark will make the really choice.

Hello Guys, :)

i were following some threads here on MacRumors and i wanna buy one of the new upcoming MBP's.
It's no secret that there is a difference in power between the both (13" and 15") machines.
However, i was aiming for this configuration:

new 13" rMBP
i7 3,1GHz (dual Core)
16GB RAM (hopefully DDR4)
512GB SSD

This configuration would me cost in germany a total of ~2.500€.
Maye this is going to be even more expensive, when the new ones will be released.

I wanna do Videography (Final Cut), Music Production (Bitwig Studio/Logic Pro) with this machine.
I like the formfactor of the 13" rMBP. But does it come up with the required power to handle heavier tasks? Or is a 15" rMBP the better choise?

I searched for a similar thread but I didn't find that kind of topic, so I decided to start a thread.
Is there someone, who could tell me how the current 13" rMBP handled Videoediting, etc.?

Thanks for reading, hope some of you reply. :)

You would be best off with the top end custom 15" for video and music production. Am about to get that with the 2tb SSD, 460 Radeon HD, etc.
Then attach a 4k TV for output of edited content, or if your budget can stretch to the 5k ultrafine LG monitor, use that for the 4k video editing and audio production.

Of course i would be best off with the high end 5k+ model. :)
But I can't afford it, and since I do not earn Millions with my produced content, I am fine with the base 15" model.
My version has 2,6GHz quad core, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD and Radeon 550. Should be enough to work with my tools.
;)

Can't wait for it to ship.
